So now you do think need is a factor. Well, an undersized tweener who struggles against big guards isn't really a need. We have DT talent and depth (except at NT).
We have very little pass rush talent and depth, and have a giant hole in our secondary.
If there is an elite talent available at a position of need, we should take him (assuming ofc, that we're stuck at 2). We don't need another DT. We need pass rush or our hole in the secondary filled. Both of which, id rather fill with Barnett or Hooker, both of whom I see as better players than Solomon.
Giant hole in our secondary? that was one of the only good things we had going last yr...Solomon isn't just a DT he's a DE that can play from the zero to the 9 tech.
Why is Barnett looked at as a pure pass rusher when he's he's slower, has shorter arms then Solomon, and isn't as athletic
why can't Lynch move over to the LEO position? He's got the speed and length, just needs to lose a couple lbs in a contract yr.
Giant hole, yes. Who is playing Single high FS. if ward, then who's starting at cb?
A guy that can play all over the line sounds really nice. Can he be a stud Leo? I don't see it.
Barnett - I just watch games. I don't care much about broad jumps or spandex. Barnett gets in the backfield and he gets home. Barnett got more sacks, he got more TFLs, he broke Reggie Whites sack record. He's the second best Leo available.
You go back and forth selling Thomas as a Leo, then as a DT. Which is he - is he Justin smith or Chris Avril? If he's both, then he's the best player in the draft, and one of the best in draft history.
