Christmas Mock - If we build for Shanahan

If we traded out of the 2nd overall pick and only received an extra 2nd and 3rd in return, whoever the new GM is needs to be fired on the spot. Talk about getting bent over with no lube.

If were going to trade out of the 2nd overall pick, it's going to require a MASSIVE haul in return ie multiple first-round picks and possibly more depending on where the first picks are.

"get another 2nd and 3rd, at least"

Didn't want to get carried away with 2018 and 2019. Just the upcoming first 3 rounds.

We're not going to get a massive haul with Garrett of the board. There isn't another prospect worth giving up multiple firsts for this year.

We may end up getting stuck reaching for a QB or taking the BPA (possibly Allen) even though we don't need help at the position. Or trading back for whatever we can get so we can pick up 1-2 draft picks and pick up a player at a position of need later in the first (QB, WR, ILB, OLB).
That's precisely why I don't see a trade taking place. We're either going to grab Garrett if the Browns don't or one of the QBs.

idk man. Some boards are actually putting Allen on a 1b type of status with Garrett. If that's the case, you'll never know if another GM will agree and offer the farm for him.

Anyways, if we can get Garapollo for a 3rd and a conditional, I'm all for trading down. We have tons of needs.
I like the players you went after...I do think if someone is moving up to two they will have to give up more.

I disagree with people that people wouldn't move up for a qb last yrs class wasn't amazing and two teams moved up...IMO if a teams move all the way up to two it will be for a qb not a DE.

As long as we get Jimmy G in a trade (which would happen before the draft) I'd be down for this if not I'm going QB. I'm not as high on foster as everyone else but he'd fine like at 10. Don't think Johnson is a 2nd pick (but I'd like a upgrade at OG).

Overall not bad

by the time the draft rolls around Mitch Trubisky will be worth every bit as much as Eagles got for Wentz..... no doubt about it

Was very enthusiastic when I saw the title "If we build for Shanahan". But, once I saw you want to trade for Jimmy Garoopolo with a 3rd round pick, I just stopped reading. Is not that I don't like Jimmy G, but I tell you when is all said and done should he finally gets traded he will be worth a 1st round pick or 2 x 2nd round picks. So, is just totally unrealistic when you think you can land him with a 3rd and a conditional. No way and I will lay down a bet with you right now.

I have no idea how Mike Shanahan is as a talent evaluator, but I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. We need either him or his son as HC, but we also need the talent to run the WCO.

We can easily go bpa and get fournette now that Hyde has been hurt every season

We need an upgrade at RB before guard

Great oline makes even the average backs look better than they are. We don't have a great oline. We just have a better line than the mess we suited up last year.

The league raved about our oline when Harbaugh was here. Dallas and Atlanta are hard to beat because they can do anything with their OLine. The only team that can contain them is NYG because they stacked their front 4. Everyone else has to stack the box against them and risk getting burned through the air. Dak is average if you take away that support. Talented bigs get you farther than talented skills.

No way am I giving up a 1st or packaging multiple 2nds for a possible one year rental. Not gonna fall for the whole Matt Flynn thing again where a backup looked good until teams figured out his tendencies on film. I think a 3rd w/ a comp is fair trade and we have half a season to resign JG. If they ask for what you're saying, I'm drafting Trubisky instead of Corey Davis and looking for some vets at WR.

Not saying you will fall for anything. I am just telling you straight up that a 3rd and a conditional will not get you anywhere near Garoppolo. No chance, Jose!
