Draft picks/following the draft overrated?

We all know about Baalke's struggles, but today is a reminder of the low probability of finding great players in the draft. Former 2nd rounders such as Amaro, Hunter, DGB, Arthur Brown have been moved on from as well as numerous other high picks in recent years. Today, we saw Rick Spielman (who I believe is a pretty good GM) make a bold move by trading a mid-late 1st rounder for a proven NFL commodity at QB to increase their chances of making the playoffs. Should more teams be more aggressive by trading late rounders for proven NFL talent with big contracts? It would fit the 49ers situation perfectly next offseason to do so (lots of cap space). If you're going to cut 5th rounders like Fahn Cooper and 6th rounders like Driskel and Taylor year one, wouldn't it make sense to have more othese picks available for trade?

You'll find very few successful NFL players who weren't draft picks...

Just because you can't score 100% doesn't mean you should elect to not take the test.
