1. An OLB that can beat out Brooks. This will definitely be his last year on the team.
2. A guy that can develop into a number 1 CB like William Jackson, Alexander McKenzie or Eli Apple.
3. I like Eric Roger skill set for our number 2 WR but I think we need to make sure we get Josh Doctson. Kelly doesn't use a FB so we are going to need a 3rd starting WR.
4. At least 2 guys to rotate in on our Dline. This is a deep draft for Dline. Dorsey is out until mid season. I'm not impressed with Purcell or TJE as our backups. A Washington, Chris Jones, Kaufusi, Q. Jefferson would really improve our rotation.
5. A RB capable of splitting carries with Hyde 50/50 and starting if we need them. Players like Alex Collins or Kenyon Drake.
6. A KR/PR capable of scoring.
Ok today's mock version we are going to keep Kap to compete with Gabbertt. With RG3 getting 22 million from Cleveland when he hasn't played in year why would drop in our knees to Elways demands. If you only have one team in the bidding you still don't let them set the market. I don't think Kap is the type player to come in and try to destroy the team because he didn't get his way. If healthy I think he beats out Gabbertt. I think Kelley designs the offense to Kaps strengths. It takes a huge need off our chest. Now Balke has to build a team around Kap that he can thrive in.
Also in this mock I was looking to consolidate our picks to hit he higher rounds as much as possible. My mock is also assuming A.Davis returns closer to 2013 form than 2014.
Trade number 1
We make the deal with the Rams we send them pick 7 for picks 15 and 45. 1500-1500 according to trade value chart. Why would we trade with a division rival. Because we are the 4th best team in our division we need to focus on our roster. I know guys are against trading up and down but figure it like this do you thick Buckner is better than Shaq Lawson and Adolphus Washington. I don't. Even if you substitute your favorite players at 14 and 45 I think them players beat out whoever we get at 7. Except maybe Bosa, Jack orRamsey which will be gone by 7. So if we aren't going QB this deal makes the best sense. It also gives us an extra chip we can use to jump back in round 1 and grab a player that slip. What if Goff starts sliding down round 1 like Rogers did. If the Rams trade up for a QB the Browns could pass on a QB. The next teams that need QBs is the jets and Bills at 19 and 20. A risk at 7 Goff or Wentz would be a steal at 18.
Trade number 2
Trades picks 68 and 105 to Cinci for pick 55
Draft
R1/15 William Jackson CB number 1 CB. Was going with Lawson here until I read about his Dobb looking better at OLB than him.
R2/37 Josh Doctson WR most athletic WR in the draft.
R2/45 switched up to Dodd at OLB after reports of his workouts. Teams saying he looks better at OLB than Lawson.
R2/55 JaylonSmith ILB worth the risk here best ILB in years without the injuries.
R4/133 Bronson Kaufusi DE replacement for Dorsey in the rotation.
R5/142 Kenyon Drake RB
R5/145 Kevin Hogan QB underrated
R5/174 Rashard Robinson CB
R6/178 Alex McCallister OLB takes Lemoniers spot
R6/207 Trade for 2017 5th round pick
R6/211 Jalin Marshall KR
R6/213 Brandon Allen QB practice Squad
I'm also interested in who you guys would take with picks 1/15, 2/37, 2/45 and 2/55.
