I'm still hoping for a guy like Schwartz to be brought in but at worst, I think we bring in someone after the June 1st cuts. A cap casualty that is a solid fit in a ZBS. Who that is? I have no idea

I originally had Ogbah but since CBS Sports had both there as 1-2 round projections, I figure I'll take my defensive draft crush . If he can get past TB, I think we have a real good shot at trading back up for him. We just have to jump in front of Pitt and AZ (AZ just picked up Jones though so they may not be as much of a threat).

Like the first 3 picks, but that may be a little ambitious. I don't see us getting anything more than a late 3rd round pick for Kaepernick and that's only if he's willing to take a pay cut to go to Denver. Butler is ranked 35 on CBS and you have him falling all the way to 49.

Another way to try to pick 3 players in the top 50 would be trading Denver's 2nd round pick (63), our 3rd round pick (69), and our 4th round pick (102) to move up to 30-31 and draft whichever pass rusher is still available between Floyd, Spence, and Ogbah (ranked 24, 29, and 30). We'd keep our 2nd round pick which could hopefully be used to draft Butler at 37. 24 just feels high for Spence and 49 seems low for Butler, so this balances the two.

I'm surprised McCallister is rated so low on CBS - I'd be fine using a 5th round pick on him. He has off-field issues, but you don't find players with that kind of upside late in the draft (more upside than Lynch in my opinion). 10'8" broad jump, 7.01 3 cone, and 4.00 shuttle are impressive and he has longer arms than Aldon Smith

Honestly, I have no idea why Schwartz isn't already here. Maybe his injury recovery got off track? It seems surprisingly quiet league wide regarding him.

Good idea on that trade projection. That definitely works. I think Butler will most likely go anywhere between Denver's 1st and shortly after us (37) but this Dline group is deep. CBS Sports even has Bullard as a 2nd round projection He is my 2nd favorite Dlineman behind Buckner but I definitely think he will go before Butler, that's why I dropped Butler a few more spots to ensure I get one of them

McCalister is a beast. I'm a Gator fan and I'm shocked they still have him rated that low. I'd grab him as early as our 4th round comp. He is a stud and physical freak!

This draft would be unreal. It would expedite the rebuild process in a ridiculous way.

Trades: (As we all know, trades are hard to predict so I just used the Draft Value Chart to keep all trades even or at worst, a couple of points off)

Colin Kaepernick for Denver's 2nd (63). Hold out long enough on Draft day and Denver is desperate so we squeeze their 2nd.

Our 2nd (37) and our 3rd (69) to Cincinnati for their 1st (24) and their 6th (184)

Denver's 2nd (63), our 4th (102) and SD 5th (134) to Indianapolis for their 2nd (49)

Our 5th (134) and Denver's 6th (192) to Pittsburgh for their 4th (121)

Mock Draft:

1) QB - Jared Goff / California 6-4/215: Appears to be the perfect type of QB that Chip wants and with Buckner off the board and Goff sitting here at 7, it becomes a no brainer to grab him and let him develop for a year behind Gabbert. Gabbert is a FA after this season and with Goff waiting in the wings, we get him back on a team friendly back-up QB deal or he walks and we look elsewhere for a veteran back-up. Goff has a quick and accurate release, reads the defense well and makes quick and good decisions. A year under Chip and he will be polished enough to take complete control of this offense.

1 (CIN) OLB – Noah Spence / Eastern Kentucky 6-3/254: He is the best 3-4 pass rusher in this draft and is exactly what we need on defense. He getting banned from the Big 10 as well as some unimpressive interviews has him dropping but not quite out of the 1st round. He is given a late 1st-early 2nd round grade from CBS Sports so I'm taking full advantage of that and grabbing him in the late 1st before Pittsburgh, Seattle, Arizona and Green Bay pick.

2 (IND) DT/DE – Vernon Butler / LA Tech 6-4/325: Butler has made a name for himself following his Senior Bowl performance and could certainly be gone by the end of the 1st especially since Denver didn't re-sign Jackson. However, this Dline class is so deep I believe we luck out in the mid-2nd round and have a versatile stud drop into our laps. He will start at RE immediately and can slide inside on passing downs. If he is gone, I have no issues selecting Austin Johnson or Kenny Clark here. Either way, we address three huge needs with our first three picks.

4 (PITT) OG Spencer Drango / Baylor 6-6/315: Played LT for four years at Baylor and is a two-time Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year recipient. He is great in pass protection but more suited to play Guard in the NFL which is perfect for us. Has good feet and long arms to keep defenders away. He is also very strong (30 reps) and is exactly what we need in the interior. Not nearly as dominant of a run blocker as a Mike Iupati but is good enough in that area but pass protects a lot better! He and Tiller will help Kilgore keep that pocket clean and he can even kick out to LT if Staley goes down. An upgraded version of Alex Boone.

4 (comp) WR - Charone Peake / Clemson 6-2/209: Has the size, strength, speed (ran 4.45 40) and the ball skills anyone would want in a WR. He learned behind Sammy Watkins and DeAndre Hopkins and with a little more development, he can be a beast. He can get behind a defense and his route running is what you would expect from a 5th year Senior, very polished. He will not have to start right away but I believe he will be a starter by 2017 in a Jordan Matthews type of role. He did not put up the numbers Clemson was expecting which is why he available here in the 4th but he still had a solid season and would be an absolute steal at this point.

5 (comp) RB – Tyler Ervin / San Jose St. 5-10/192: Small school prospect but very explosive. He can serve as the "Darren Sproles" type of back in Chip's offense. Elusive and quick out in space and can challenge Ellington as the kick returner. Despite his size, he was very successful running between the tackles in college. Competition is somewhat of an issue but he will not be an every down back for us, just a change of pace and third down back once he picks up the intricacies of pass protection from a RB.

6) CB Deiondre' Hall / Northern Iowa 6-2/192: Versatile player who has played all over the defense to include safety and linebacker at some time. Rangy corner with freakishly long arms that comes from a 3-4 system and is not afraid to come up in run support and lay the wood. Despite needing some work on his press coverage skills, when the ball is in the air, he knows how to make a play. 13 INTs with 4 of them returned for TDs. With both Chip and Baalke loving the length at this position, Hall makes perfect sense.

6) DT – D.J. Reader / Clemson 6-3/340: Big boy to help man the middle in our 3-4 defense. Played on an elite defensive line unit with Clemson and can be a solid back-up in the run game for Williams. I expect a lot of Dline rotation this year so depth here is big.

6 (comp) OLB – Alex McCalister / Florida 6-5/240: Absolute stud rushing the passer. A little undersized and CBS has him as a 7th-UDFA but if he is still here in the 6th, we get fantastic value. He has the frame to add a little more and the talent to cause havoc so might as well beef up that pass rush. He had a phenomenal combine and will add great depth and pass rushing ability to our defense.

6 (comp) C – Austin Blythe / Iowa 6-2/298: Blythe was a four year starter on a very good offensive line unit and has played all three interior line positions. He is smart, agile, understands the advantage of leverage and plays with a controlled nasty streak. He will get a chance to develop behind a healthy Kilgore and this move kicks Martin out to Guard. We will now have a young, talented and deep group of interior lineman turning an obvious weakness into a strength.

I like this very much,I glad I`m not the only one who is not sleeping on Charone Peake.....clemson has put out some damn good wideouts in the last 3 years.....good trading of picks and still ended up with 8-9 picks Baalke ought to be paying attention after all His JOB is on the line....

I agree. Even if it didn't shake out like this (which I'm sure it won't) we have a chance to kill this draft and expedite our rebuild. 12 picks in a deep class is perfect timing for us...Baalke just has to not mess it up!
