Trade Kap straight up since he says he wants to go there.

I'd do that deal Wednesday if the Jets would.

If they were interested in trading Von, they would've given him the non-exclusive tag. Von's going nowhere.

I don't think the 49ers would give up the #7 pick to pay Wilkerson market value even if we get the 20th pick back. I think the Jets are asking for way too much for him if they're expecting multiple 1st round picks. He's not worth much in a trade as a free agent about to make close to $20 million a year. You're paying for what you're getting. Would much rather draft Goff/Buckner/Jack and get to pay them below market value for 4-5 years (the #7 pick will get <$4.5 million per year over the first 4 years I believe).
If we want an expensive free agent defensive player, sign Jackson or Vernon for significantly less than Wilkerson would cost but keep the #7 pick. Save the extra cap space and get a young building block in the draft.
The teams interested in Wilkerson are teams that are already competitive with few team needs. Wilkerson isn't as attractive to rebuilding teams who don't really need his production in year 1 (all it would do is hurt our draft position - we aren't going to the playoffs). Rookies are more valuable to rebuilding teams because they can greatly outplay their contract once they get up to speed. Russell Wilson was one of the most valuable players in football the past couple years because his contract allowed the Seahawks to keep their defense intact.
Most of the 3-4 teams in the league are either rebuilding or don't have the cap space to absorb Wilkerson. The Cardinals have some cap room, a short title window (Carson Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald), and few players they need to re-sign (probably one player in the secondary). It would be really interesting if they restructured some contracts to make room for Wilkerson and traded their first round pick straight up for him. That's about all the Jets can get in return in this market and could put the Cardinals over the top now that they have the top offense in the league.

Because it's Wilkerson AND 20th pick for 7.
Say you do sign Jackson or Vernon. So you are looking at 15 mil for one of them and 3.3 mil for Goff/Jack/Buckner. Wilkerson is 20 with say Ogbah at around 2. The difference is less than 4 million. The cap space saved isn't that huge. You also get a young building block in addition to Wilkerson.

I would do this in a heart beat. Baalke will blow this draft anyway, so why not pick up a top 3 DL on our team in the process.

Jackson is hoping for $15 million a year. I don't think he'll get it - I think he'll probably end up with a deal worth closer to $13-14 million a year. Wilkerson is a much better player, but that will be priced into his contract which could be $20 million per year. I would take the cap space and better rookie. Buckner could end up being close to as good as Wilkerson in my opinion, but he'll be getting paid $5 million a year 3-4 years into his rookie contract which could be an absolute steal. I like Ogbah a lot, but I don't think he's a building block like Buckner - he's got great length and explosiveness, but he's stiffer than you'd like in an edge rusher.
I just noticed Vernon was transition tagged, so that's out of the question now.

Draft Buckner in the 1st...and trade down in the 2nd rd. Re-sign Williams. Armstead - Williams - Buckner should be a very good front 3 for years to come.

Buckner's not gonna be there at 7.

I'd rather overpay for Malik Jackson. Get a proven 3-4 DE without surrendering any picks or draft position. Still have a chance to pick a stud at 7.

So our lineup would be Wilkerson, Dial, and AA. Not a bad front 3. Then draft Treadwell or Lynch with the 20th. Along with solid F/A signings this plan doesn't look half bad.

This, we could assure a multi yr deal with Jackson and keep a top 10 pick or drop to 20 for Wilkerson with the possibility of him leaving the next yr

Any team that would trade for him would likely work out a multi year deal with him before the trade. No one gives up a top pick and loses that kind of cap space for a 1 year rental.
With that. I like staying a 7, go hard after Jackson and let someone else pay him $20 a year with $100 guaranteed. As another poster mentioned, Arizona makes a ton of sense.

Very possible he could be, many analysts in their mocks have Buckner still on the board at #7.
One order I've seen post combine in many mocks:
1. Tunsil
2. Wentz
3. Ramsey
4. Bosa
5. Jack
6. Stanley

Arizona has only $15 million in cap space and I highly doubt the Jet's take a low 1st for Wilk (they have the 29th pick). I'll add that they might not have a ton of top tier FA to worry about in 2016 but go look at who's a FA in 2017 for them...it's like half of their team lol.
Floyd
Campbell
Matheiu
Cooper
come to mind.
