Justin's Chip Mock

Not another Oregon DE project. Anyone of these four Treadwell, Ogbah, Shaq and Billings. Treadwell would look good opposite Smith.

i think chip used him in the eagles as a hyrbid. he played both DE and OLB for eagles. he handled himself very well at the LOS at 280.

Curry was the Eagles' Tank. He came out of college as a speed rusher and the Eagles had him bulk up. They finally moved him to OLB so he could play at a normal weight and more to his strengths.

not sure Trevathan will be that cheap and not sure we need Miller but why not.

I like the curry and Vernon signings but I think we will need some OG help with chips offense...overall would be sweet if it happen

Yea with Trevathan, i hoping we get him at a good price but given that we have 14.9M in cap space, we could probably shell out a million or two more per year in a bidding war. I think Scooby Wright might start on the IR but i would like Trevathan's contract to make it easy for us to cut him in the third year without a lot of dead money and Wright can take over. Also Scooby can play OLB so i love his versatility

Yeah Miller is a luxury acquisition but Chip likes to have more than 1 stud at RB and Miller would be that 3rd down shifty back. Plus in the likely event that Hyde misses a game, Miller can pick up the RB1 role.

Why would Scooby Wright start the year on IR, he played in the bowl game.

Oh really? dam i didnt know that. I thought he had a season ending injury. Well he would still be a good pick for the future. Id expect him to challenge Trevathan for the ILB spot next bowman in his 2nd or 3rd year. In the event Bowman or Trevathan get injured, Scooby is good depth to step in too.

Yeah scooby played in the bowl and was a beast I don't know if he makes it to the 3rd I see him as a ILB tackling machine

Curry and Dial ahead of Buckner and AA?

Yeah I think it will be veterans over the youngsters, but Buckner and AA would still get a lot of work in the rotation.

Best offseason mock so far. Great work. I think Vernon is gonna cost more though. A lot of teams hungry for a pass rusher.

thanks man. Yeah, i tried to leave some extra cap space in the event we may get into a bidding war with some of our FA acquisitions. You are probably right though, if Hali and Miller get swept up quickly, Vernon could be one of the top pass rushing targets on the market. I doubt Miami will retain him because of Suh and Wake's contract.
I like the cuts, but I'd keep Dorsey for depth. The 2 mil in savings isn't worth it to cut a vet lineman IMO. Also not sure about cutting Bethea. Tartt was terrible on coverage last year. I also don't think I'd spend 4 mil for a backup RB.

Treadwell is very polished and elite but i like michael thomas's potential. I think he would fit chip's offense and could be a major playmaker. He's shifty and get can open and take it the house

Plus, i think our defense will need all the help it can get so Buckner should really help out in the rotation
I don't see us drafting a Kicker when we can bring back the kid we had last year who was awesome. Accosta or something like that. He was just as good as Dawson through camp and pre season

I agree, I liked Acosta

I liked acosta too but i cant believe he wasnt picked up by the steelers or eagles this past season. It'd be good to have some competition and Faurbairn hit a 60 yarder so there is alot to like from him. If Acosta beats him in TC, we could probably trade him to a team in need of a kicker. If Fairbairn wins, we made good use of a 6th rounder

I did not like Dorsey's play this year and he has been super injury prone. Plus with the acquisition of Curry and Buckner, he is the odd man out.

Bethea's coverage wasnt all that great last season too. I think with a better pass rush and a year of experience, Tartt can really focus on making plays close to the LOS and making better choices in coverage

Well Lamar Miller wouldnt be a backup RB really. Chip Kelly's system needs more than one stud at RB. Hyde and Miller would be the 1,2 punch combo through out games. Of course Hyde would get the bulk but Miller would get a good amount of touches too. It will help Hyde stay healthy and if Hyde goes down, we have Miller to take over the RB1 duties. I kind of wanted Forte but i think Miller's youth would make him more suitable
