If the 49ers could have a draft like Oakland where they take a stud pass rusher in the 1st and then find their QBOTF in the 2nd, I am DOWN.

Garrett is first. Falk in 2nd. That would make me happy.

That sounds awesome to me.

Well maybe 4th round.

1. Air Raid QB

2. Arm strength questionable

3. Struggled the last two weeks against good defenses.

They could take Garrett #1 overall then take the best available QB with their second 1st round pick. I'm pretty much afraid of that scenario.

1. Falk has ALL the tools to succeed in ANY offense, regardless of Air Raid. The Rams didn't seem to think too much of the Air Raid to keep them from taking Goff #1 overall.

2. Yes he doesn't have that laser rocket arm, but what Falk does have is touch and accuracy. Pretty much the same traits as Jared Goff, but I don't think ANYONE has Falk going in the top 10, but I'm willing to bet Falk doesn't last past the middle of the 2nd round.

3. Again, it didn't stop the Rams from drafting Goff #1 overall when he threw 3 picks vs. Utah, not to mention Washington's defense is one of the best in the nation. Give Falk or any QB a defense like Washington's and I bet THAT QB will get all the credit like Browning is. And I wouldn't exactly call 325 yards 3 TD and 1 pick exactly struggling, shoot Deshaun Watson gets a ton of praise when he passes for that much.

My take, Luke Falk is a much much more polished passer than what Johnny Manziel, Tim Tebow, Paxton Lynch and even Mariota and they all went in the 1st round. I think I'm being a little conservative when I say Luke Falk is a 2nd round pick.

Accuracy and quick release >>>>> arm strength. If arm strength is all we need then lets keep Kaep because his arm is stronger than any of these guys.

Unless they're really in love with Mitch Trubisky. They know if they pass on him with the first pick, he won't be available. If they're smart, this draft is filled with talented pass rushers and slim pickings with QBs. Best to go pick the best QB then pass rusher.

I'm hoping everyone proves me wrong about Watson not being a top 10 and the Browns take him!!!!
But yes you're right, who's to say the Browns aren't in love with Trubisky, I think he fits into what Hue Jackson wants in a QB. I can see someone trying to leap frog the 49ers for Trubisky if the Browns don't want the #1 overall pick which I think is a strong possibility too considering they have a lot of holes to fill.

Please tell me your argument isn't "It's good enough for the Rams".

They just signed Fisher for ANOTHER two years.

No my argument is NFL teams seem to do more to evaluate a player than simply saying "Oh he comes from an Air Raid, let's pass on him". Know what I mean. Also Trent Baalke was on record saying he knew Goff and Wentz would go 1 and 2, so what does that tell you, that only the Rams had it in for Goff.

The Rams just extended Jeff Fischer, so I wouldn't consider them an exemplary model to follow...

I don't think you pass on Falk because he comes from an Air Raid system. You pass on him because he makes horrific decisions against top competition and has a real hard time reading the safety over the top. His system puts him in a position to succeed - that's what coaching is all about. And Falk succeeds in beating one on one coverage. He is a big project with upside - but not in the same class as the other top QB prospects.

I'm not a fond of comparing college players with NFL players...but I read somewhere that he's a bit like Matt Ryan. I think that's a very very fair projection as far as his style is concerned.

If we land a Matt Ryan type QB in 2nd or 3rd round...we win the draft. That is exactly the kind of QB Chip Kelly will want.

We need a WR just as badly. Really like Dede in Chip's offense.

Fair assessment which I think could be argued, but I think I'll stop now and get back to talking Garrett.
