In the past I have not spent much time on the draft other than to lurk in this thread. This year I am paying more attention. One guy that keeps popping up is Myles Jack. He just looks like a football player to me. He is coming off an injury but it doesn't seem at all serious. Aggressive, agile, covers well. May be a little light for ILB as he is listed at 6'1," 230. Some suggest he may be lighter than that. In a number of evaluations and mocks, he is always in the 1st round. Some project him as high as 12-15.

Jack is around 245 now. He'll definitely go in the top 10 picks. Superb athlete who will blow up the Combine, but doesn't project clearly at a single position. Has played several different defensive positions as well as subbing as a RB/HB on offense. Likely ends up as a Joker type LB similar to Von Miller.

If the 49ers were to move to a 4-3 he would be my choice, followed closely by Billings and A'Shawn Robinson. With Bow and Hodges, Jack could be a force! Jack is incredibly athletic and great in coverage. He looks like he could be a star

I like his potential in coverage as an ILB.
Bowman is not the cover guy he was before the knee injury. Plugging Jack in as the cover guy and allowing Bowman to be more of a downhill player might prolong Bowman's career and give us the cover guy we need. (I almost said, "the cover guy we need in Mangini's scheme, but...
)If Hodges develops better cover ability, perhaps Jack could move outside. He has certainly been effective in other roles.

I don't like Myles Jack for the 49ers because I don't know if he fits our system. This is what Greg Gabriel said:
Overall, Jack is a different type a player and he is not a fit for all schemes. I feel his best position is as a Will linebacker in a 4-3 scheme. He might be able to play inside in a 3-4 but he needs to improve his ability to take on and shed blocks.

Early season injury so his recovery should allow him to play in his rookie season.
