WR Laquon Treadwell

Mel Kiper has us taking him in the first, worth it ?
I'm not an expert by any means but there does not appear to be any WR worth taking at the Niners spot. I think the best value for what will be there is Jack, Buckner or Stanley. Pick up a WR in FA and later in draft

Sure. It's a value position right behind QB, in a group with OL and Edge Rushers. Treadwell is top of the class, and he isn't back at the top of his game yet after the horrific injuries a year ago. Also, Treadwell is one of a very few top WR in a draft coming out without off field incidents or question marks in his past. Plus he'll still be 20 on draft day.

What injuries is that, Gabbert?

" On November 1, 2014, with 1:30 left in the game versus 3rd ranked Auburn Tigers football, Treadwell caught a screen pass and took it to the Tigers' 1 yard line before being tackled from behind, bending the wide receiver awkwardly. As a result of the gruesome injury, Treadwell broke his tibia and dislocated his ankle, and adding insult to injury, fumbled the ball which was recovered in the end zone by Auburn's #8 Cassanova McKinzy, sealing the game for Auburn.".
This dude + Torrey and Kaep in Kellys offense = BONER TIME

Oh, ok. I thought it was an ACL or something. I can live with a broken leg and dislocated ankle.
Kiper - https://www.seccountry.com/mississippi/mel-kiper-on-laquon-treadwells-top-10-draft-stock-hes-got-to-run-well-enough-to-warrant-being-that-high Compares Quon to Alshon Jeffrey, who I thought was the best receiver in the 2012 draft, and has largely proven to be. But Treadwell comes out a lot cleaner than Alshon who was dogged for perceived laziness and being overweight prior to the draft. Jeffrey slimmed down to 213, and ran a 4.48 40, but it was at the last minute and I don't think a lot of teams trusted it would last. Treadwell will come to the combine at a similar size and put up similar numbers, but I actually think he's a safer pick than Shon. It's even possible that both of them end up in San Francisco, with Jeffrey hitting free agency this year, but a very long shot. Those two plus Torrey Smith might give the 9ers the best balanced young receiver group in the league and it's not out of reach to do so.

Yeah, but his leg was a mess, and for a high performance athlete, it takes at least a year to recover fully from a serious lower body injury.

What was it a compound fracture or something?
Don't we have Smelter for this kind of anticipated role?

I never thought I'd see Kaep and Boner in the same sentence ever again!

Treadwell does remind me a lot of Jeffrey

Kap has a boner.
I don't know much about this guy, but also saw the ESPN Mock with us taking him. What little I've read hear is promising, but not convincing.

If we're taking a receiver at #7, he needs to be a STUD. He needs to have a combination of Size, Speed, Strength, Route Running/Ability to create space, and "Hands". I haven't seen anybody saying that has many/most of these traits. I hear "Jump ball" receiver and "reminds me of Alshon Jeffrey" - Good, but hardly worth the #7 overall pick.

BPA or trade down.
