WR Laquon Treadwell

Agreed. Jerry rice was slow too wasn't he. I like this guy a lot. With Torrey smith he's the perfect compliment. His film is fantastic. If they want him, take him. If the other guy they wanted isn't there try and trade back and then get him.

Boldin another example as well, 40 is irrelevant

Funny when I said I wanted Tyler Boyd a couple people on here said he was too slow and that we should take Tredwell. Boyd ran a 4.45 at his pro day and Tredwell ran a 4.65.

I hear you. Speed is tough. It's not to be discarded but it's also over analyzed as well. Im a big "football speed" guy. Some guys drop a lot of speed with pads on while others have no drop off at all or even seem faster.

Besides I think history has proven that pure speed gets yku almost nothing. While those special route runners, speed or not they know how to get open and make plays.

I remember seeing when Young and Montana where at the hall of fame ceremony for Rice. They asked a stupid question to Young like why did you throw the ball to him so much. He simply said, because he was always open lol and Montana nodded and laughed like DUH. Lol

We have so many needs its almost a no lose pick at 7. If Baalke can pick up another good pick and still get a day one starter like treadwell middle of the round - I wouldn't criticize that.
Confirmed everything thought about his skipping the combine. Will have to take a look at Ole Miss players and their combine versus school times, but I generally add a .10 to school 40 times to match combine times. Which means, he probably would have run in the 4.7s at the combine. The whispers were true in this case.

You have to take a serious leap of faith to grade this guy the top WR in the draft anymore. I had him at number 3 on my wide receiver board, and have to revisit that again. His SPARQ score is at 38th percentile, which is NOT good.

In the end, his stock will be dropping, although I think most teams knew he would run slowly. Expect a selection between the Texans at 22 and the Browns at 32.

Lol he thought he was a top 10 pick, not anymore! Still a very good #2 in the NFL
Still not buying him as a top 10 pick, but I would take him with a mid-late first rounder. He's still an aggressive possession receiver that can fit into any offense immediately.
The difference between Treadwell and guys like Coleman, Doctson, Fuller, Thomas, Cooper, Shepherd, Boyd, Higgins and Miller isn't that big.

No reason to take Treadwell high

Seriously. 40 times matter very little given Treadwell's skill set. That's not his game. 40 means nothing.

He's a fantastic late 1st round pick. Productive. Elite hands. Good size with leaping ability. He is always "open" given his skill set.

I still really like Treadwell. No way he falls out of the 1st though IMO, but his 40 time moves him closer to our pick at #37 than our pick at #7.

Looking at the trade chart, if we could somehow still get the Bronco's 2nd (#63), we could trade that + our 2nd rounder to move up to around pick #21/22 which would still be great value for Treadwell.

If we can find a way to nab Goff + Treadwell with our first two picks, then we'd be well on our way towards rebuilding our offense. Then in rounds 3-5, we could focus on defense + interior offensive line.

no matter what his time is, Tread will be a very very good WR in the NFL.. bottom line is he's got that nose for the Endzone.. it's really a simple math, his slow workout means that he will be drafted by the playoff teams..

so, if you think about it, he can be playing for the Packers, Seattle, Kansas City or even Denver.. or if Baalke's savy enough, he may just send our 2nd and Kaepernick to Denver for their 1st rounder and we can land " The Tread"!!!
Seems like it happens every year. Some WR runs a slow 40 ends up being a very good WR in the NFL. Landry on the phins, Keenan on the Bolts and are own Boldin come right off the top of my head. The good thing is the 9ers are now in a better position to finally grab one of these guys to pair with the speedy Torrey.

Wouldn't that be about a 4th rounder in value (Maaaaaaaaybe) a third? Our 2nd is only 7 picks behind their first.

None of those guys were considered early 1st round talent even before their 40 times. Treadwell is a talented receiver, just not a Top 10 caliber player.

That's probably true. But any team would be lucky to have him in the late 1st/early 2nd.

Tell me about it...Treadwell has never been great value as a Top 10 pick...If you pick a WR in the Top 10 he better be ELITE and once in a decade WR...the value in WRs in this draft lies from rounds 2 to 4
