Ronnie Stanley's mother grew up in San Francisco They have strong family ties to the bay area. Lots of family there to this day.
If Stanley ends up in San Fran, it would be a homecoming, and a family circle completed.
He and TUNSIL of old miss are the best tackles in college. TUNSIL is more mechanical in his movement n Stanley is more fluid n natural.
Stanley has better footwork from playing basketball at such a high level in high school with Shabazz Mohamed of the timberwolves.
So,imho Stanley has way more potential. I hope we take him n bring him home.

Big ND fan, but Tunsil is a better player right now. He's more physical in the run game and just as good in pass protection. Stanley may have better length/athleticism (it's close), but Tunsil has better technique and appears to be stronger. In my opinion, Tunsil has the higher floor and they have similar ceilings. It definitely isn't a widespread view that Stanley has way more potential - Tunsil is considered the better prospect of the two.

He's definitely a top 10 guy. Tunsil is definitely a top 5 guy.

The AD factor seems grey to me right now.

Essentially the guy quit for a season. I imagine Baalke will welcome him back with open arms, but how good will he really be in 2016?

Agreed. Depending on how the draft order shakes out, I imagine we'd have a crack at one of them

Even if Davis comes back I would still grab Stanley or Tunsil if they are available. Staley is getting up there and the Niners need depth and replacements on the OL. Worst case... move AD to guard. Nothing is more important to this team than improving the OL in my opinion.

I would like to take an O-line in the first.

Then grab a guy like Kevin Hogan in the later rounds to fill our QB needs.

Even if AD comes back I would like ake him. He is too good to pass up if he is there when we pick. AD quit on us. It's one thing to retire and leave the game but he wanted a year off. Screw that. He quit once who to say that if things get tough again he wont QUIT again. I would rather have a young stud who wants to be here.

Franco Harris once took a year off because he "didnt feel like playing football" that year. Steelers took him back and wound up with a ring. Terrible that grown men that make millions of dollars want to take some time for themselves.

That aside, I would take either Tunsil or Stanley with our 1st pick. You cant have too many good OL. Ours is a disaster this year. Grab one of these two, sign Mack, if AD comes back its gravy. If not, so be it. Get as many good OL as we can. Everything starts up front.
