Vernon Hargreaves CB Florida

Though I prefer either Jack, Bosa or Buckner if one of them falls to us.

here are the top 10 rated CBs according to PFF last year

Mathieu-3rd round pick
Slay-2nd
Sherman-5th
Darby-2nd
Peterson-1st
Verrett-1st
Joseph-1st
Breaux-UDFA
Harris Jr-UDFA
Norman-5th

Outside of P Peterson none were top 10 picks, you can find #1 CBs outside of the top 10 all day everyday.

Look at all those "undersized" corners. Harris, Verrett, Darby and Mathieu(even though he's more of a safety) all are proving u don't have to be 6'1" to be shut down corners

yup and they can be found all over the draft not just in the top 10

That, and Baalke doesn't really value CBs as much as safeties.

To be honest though I personally was heartbroken when the Cardinals took Peterson before us.

Watch out for Tavon Young
Another player we should not think of drafting on the 7th spot...

it shouldn't even a conversation.. first of all, if we didn't take a CB (M-Petey) with the 15th or 17th spot last year, why in the heck should be draft this guy (H3) with the 7th overall????

No way he's better than M-Petey)!!

He's wayyyy better then Peters and comes without any of the character concerns. His hips are way more fluid then MP and I'd rate his instincts on about the same level. Most certainly worth a top ten pick. Better than any DB that came out last year. The question is how much of an impact would he make versus drafting a Buckner, Jack, or Goff?

Any of those 3. I don't see us going DB in the first 3 rounds. Too many other needs.

look at the busts on DBs early in the draft the past couple seasons

Claiborne-bust city
Barron-had to turn into a LB
Kirkpatrick-not worth his draft spot
Milliner-
Hayden-injried all the time bust
Elam-huge bust
Vaccaro-injuired and mediocre
Gilbert-not sure who's worse him or Milliner
Pryor-still has time but not the game changer you want in the 1st
Dennard-never plays still time
Waynes-not a starter and should have been being the 11th pick in the draft

Those are some of the DBs that come to mind, I think DB is the biggest position of risk in the 1st (QB is up there too). pass on him at 7

That's where I have faith in Baalke on picking DBs

Sure, as with most positions. Regardless, we don't have one on our team.

My point is CB is one position were you can good talent throughout the draft. I'll take Apple,Jackson,Burns,Howard or Jones later than Vernon with the 7th pick for sure!

FYI I think our secondary isn't top of the priority list compared to QB,DL,OL,LB

But that's what would make it so intriguing if he was picked at #7.
If Baalke can find "solid" DBs in later rounds, maybe he sees a "Star" here
