Why not? Is it cause its not a major need? He doesn't have the eye poping intangibles? From what I can tell he can change direction has good hands and strips at the ball while making a tackle
I have faith in Baalke on CBs, he has gotten sone solid ones in later rounds. So if he likes one in the 1st that speaks volumes to me.

I've never been a fan of going early on CB, go look at the busts drafted at CB in the first probably more than any other position.

And you nailed it's not a postion of great need we are stupid young in the secondary department. Pass rush makes the secondary better and id rather get that or QB with our early picks.

Like you said Baalke can find DBs thought the draft always has, this would be worst case scenario and a reach IMO....if you drafting a CB at 7 he'd better be elite and I don't think he is.

He's got all the intangibles you'd ever want. He's a coach's son and he prides himself on his preparation. He has a great attitude, he's well spoken, and seems very intelligent.

This. Although I wouldn't like the pick, if Goff and Jack is gone, getting the best CB in the draft imo is not that bad. He'd immediately be our #1 CB.

Would round out a good assembly of secondary talent for us for sure. Brock Ward VHG Acker DJ Reaser Bethea Reid Tartt amongst others. Then we'd need only to fortify the front seven
I don't want it, but I can see it. JoN has had his best success with a lock down man CB that he can roll coverage away from.
I think he's gonna be bust city.

I would totally move there.

look at the busts on DBs early in the draft the past couple seasons

Claiborne-bust city
Barron-had to turn into a LB
Kirkpatrick-not worth his draft spot
Milliner-
Hayden-injried all the time bust
Elam-huge bust
Vaccaro-injuired and mediocre
Gilbert-not sure who's worse him or Milliner
Pryor-still has time but not the game changer you want in the 1st
Dennard-never plays still time
Waynes-not a starter and should have been being the 11th pick in the draft

Those are some of the DBs that come to mind, I think DB is the biggest position of risk in the 1st (QB is up there too). pass on him at 7

Agree with most but Vacarro just had a great season but was surrounded with absolute dookie. If he is a bust then might wanna throw Eric Reid in that category as well.

Nope not at all. Eric has been consistent and solid throughout his career where as Kenny has been horrible. It's not even close. But anyways nice try though.

I like Hargreaves. Wouldn't mind him as the pick. We have a solid group of safeties, but we have a bunch of #2s and 3s at CB. Would be good to have a guy with legit #1 potential.

Though I prefer either Jack, Bosa or Buckner if one of them falls to us.

So rating higher than Reid with a worst Defense is horrible. Ok nice try though

24th ranked safety this past season middle of the pack guy. Both Reid and Vaccaro have had their ups and downs but Reid IMO has had the better career to date out of any of those 1st round safeties in 2013.

got to look at the whole body of work IMO. Reid has had a better career so far, anyway you see my point with going DB early just too much bust factor for me.
A lot of DBs drafted early are for the potential tab and being a big corner. I would prefer to address other holes personally but VHIII is a damn good corner. And Reid had his best seasons with a dominate front 7. But all ships rise with the tide if the front 7 improves on pass rushing all our DBs will look better.
