Vernon Adams (QB Oregon) is looking like a Russell Wilson clone. He's so quick and elusive in the pocket, and can make these awesome deep throws on the run, after avoiding rushers. And has a knack for making the big play. He seems to have a good demeanour about him too. I'd be interestedin him as a QB prospect.

Vernon Adams has nowhere near the pocket presence of Russell Wilson.

He does though, he's very elusive in the pocket, I've seen him avoid a rush and get a completion plenty of times.

Nobody will look at him as a QB in the NFL

This. People really need to stop comparing every small, quick black QB to Russell Wilson, its getting old.
Wilson played in and thrived in a pro style system, he was far more along as a passer than Adams is.

I get a kick out of guys who speak about guys like Goff, Lynch, Cook, Wentz, and others and say things like, "He doesn't have 'it.' I don't think he'll be anything special at the next level..."
Yet we end up with a thread about an athlete playing QB who has a nice game against a terrible defense? This guy will absolutely not be an NFL QB. End of story.

Vernon Adams just shredded USC. 20/25 407 yards 6 tds Dude had 6 TDs. He's been awesome since returning from a finger injury.
He's no "athlete playing QB", in fact he hardly has any rushing yards this year. Anyone who sees him play will know that characterization is b******t. But he is very elusive in the pocket, like Russell Wilson, has show great accuracy on his deep balls and is good at quickly finding the open receiver.
If he had been healthy all year, Oregon would probably only have 1 loss and would be in close competition for a playoff spot.

He's not a QB at the next level, its as simple as that. Don't get fooled by stats, if putting up big numbers in college led to NFL success, Colt Brennan would be on a HOF track right now.
These recent performances might lead to him getting drafted well earlier than he should, maybe a team takes a flyer on him in the 5th round but I don't see him ever being an NFL starter.

Stop it.
Dismissing the opinion that he's an athlete playing QB completely ignores his 1200 yards rushing at Eastern, and the fact that he doesn't make complex reads, struggles with consistent accuracy, and that his offensive production depends heavily upon his extremely athletic escapability. I would also characterize Kap, Cam, Wilson, RGIII, and Jake Locker as athletes playing QB. All of them were athletic studs who depended more upon their athleticism than a traditional skillset to succeed at QB in college, and all have found difficulty in the NFL. Cam and Russell have been winning games, so many will ignore their struggles. To Cam's credit, he's the only one of those who appears to have successfully disciplined himseelf to win from the pocket, which hurts his stats in the short term, but bodes well for his future. That's not easy for me to say, necause I can't stand him.
Adams gets points and survives on talent, more than skill. He's got Russell Wilsons physical dimensions (not a plus, btw) and escapability, with less accuracy and FAR less experience making reads on NFL route packages. The escapability buys him time and allows big plays to open up, but that's not a reliable formula for success in the NFL unless you have the running game and defense to support it (that's why Kap's success dwindled). He's BJ Daniels, who was cut by us, cut by the Seahawks, converted to WR by the Seahawks when they brought him back, and cut again.

Pretty much. His skills that help him succeed as a college QB don't translate well to the NFL level. He'd be a huge project, maybe a team like Seattle would take a flyer on him late in the draft.
You have to be able to look past the stats when evaluating QB's. I haven't heard of a single scout or talking head that thinks that Adams has a future as a starter in the NFL. If you draft him, you do so planning on having him be a long-term backup while he basically learns the QB position with the odds being significantly against him turning into anything worthwhile in the NFL.

While I do not think that Adams is a Wilson clone, I do think he deserves more credit than he has been getting.
He is still a very raw talent, and not a polished passer in any sense of the word, but he has been throwing some balls this year with great touch and accuracy. Sure, there are his moments where he is a product of the ducks spread, and he holds onto the ball for WAY too long, but I think he is putting together a campaign this year that could land him in the 5-7th rounds of the draft.
