There is no fault. Not coming to an agreement is completely normal when negotiating. He will sign soon enough, and this will end up being a meaningless delay.
Possible preview of his next contract negotiations
IMO the Chargers are being cheap. No other top 5 pick has both his money deferred and offsetting language. Matter of fact I am not sure I have seen that even once since the rookie cap was started. You don't take a guy #3 and then try to cheap him into a holdout. Whats the big effin deal, they scared he's not going to make it through 2 seasons?

Lol

Dang. Glad we didn't have to deal with this stuff. Got our share of it with Crabtree.
Isn't he the same guy who pulled himself out of a bowl game?

So it's getting pretty close to the deadline, but it looks like both sides have almost no room to move. Considering that Bosa was offered the same offset deal as Ezekiel Elliot I think he's being a bit of a dick.

Absolutely nothing in it for the Chargers if he sits out 2016... and presumably Bosa would plummet pretty far in the 2017 draft. Some really wild rumours going around that they might even trade him - possibly to the Cowboys. No idea what that'd cost.

We do need an edge rusher though...

There is nothing"normal" about this situation. The guy is already missing training camp with no end in sight at the moment.

This. Plus with the new cba, negotiating is nothing normal and supposed to help prevent this kind of stuff
Soooo glad they passed on Buckner and we didn't get this guy

From what I've read there's nothing particularly cheap about the deal they offered. He's got the same offset language as Elliot who's probably far more likely to get injured than Bosa is.

Caving in would basically set a precedent for every rookie to demand their entire salary is guaranteed regardless of whether they turn out to be Peyton Manning or Ryan Leaf.
Something has to give, either way he is getting a fully guaranteed 4yr deal, but he wants offsets so he doesn't lose the guarantees if he is cut, basically if he busts he gets the money plus whatever another team is willing to pay for him.
