we're gonna need a top 3 pick for him. But Bosa on one side with Armstead on the other is an excellent way to restart our team.

Love the guy but replacing Aldon on the outside is a bigger need imho... Unless we can address olb in free agency or find some sleepers in the 3rd/4th rounds.

So reach for an OLB rather than draft a guy widely seen as the best defensive player in the upcoming draft?
Can he play RG?

That depends, if we really fall in love with a guy at olb... I say take him. If not then we could draft a tackle or a qb....or even trade down. Bosa seems like an explosive player 4-3 defensive coming off the edge. I just don't want another Tank situation where we ask him to put on weight to eat some space for our 3-4 scheme, and lose some of that playmaking ability. Don't get me wrong I love Bosa but I just thinking there are more pressing needs in the draft imho.

I think the 49ers are in a spot where if they get a top pick, its pretty safe to go BPA. They need playmakers and franchise players, whether on offense or defense. The worst thing that they could do is reach for someone with guys like Nkemdiche, Bosa, Stanley, Tunsil and more available.

Of the top 5 players right now, none of them is an OLB, its arguable whether there is even one in the Top 10 or Top 15 as things stand now.

As far as Bosa goes, he's already up around 280 pounds with room to add more weight. He's slated to be a fit for pretty much any position on the DL, whether a 3-4 or 4-3. I think if he's on the board by some miracle, you draft him without even thinking twice about it. A cornerstone DL guy like that can play dividends for years to come.

If Bosa can play the 3-4 scheme then I think it's a question of what the coaches think of the players we already have in place. I don't think theyre bad but I do think having 3 former NT playing DT is preventing us from having a pass rush. Like I mentioned before I do think Dorsey and Dial are good players and their job is to free up our lbs but I do think they should get pressure on those critical passing downs....which to your point, Bosa would be a great pick.

But in situations like this i keep thinking of the Texans. A team that picks top 10 every year because they fail to address needs like qb or wr. Their defense has always been great even before drafting clowney but they took him anyway and now their offense struggles to score while their defense gets smoked for 42 anyway. There's probably 100 examples of where I'm wrong, or maybe it just depends on a teams front office. But at the same time I know a teams success is not always contingent on their first round picks success....maybe I'm just over thinking things. Idk
You write his name on the card, hand it in, and go sit down.

He's a grown man... starts day 1

Seems like Aaron lynch is already doing a good job replacing Aldon.

Do you think Ahmad Brooks, Eli Harold and Lemonier are long term solutions?

Too soon to tell with Harold as he is a rookie. In anycase you cant just wish your way to a better OLB. This upcoming draft is weak in just that area at the top.

If you cant get a top OLB, why not a pocket collapsing beast of a DL? Bosa could be a starter from Day 1, as could Nkemdiche, Ronnie Stanley, Tunsil and Smith.

Whoever they pick at the top, other than perhaps a a QB needs to have an immediate impact. Bosa would be a starter instantly.

A DL of Armstead-Williams-Bosa/Nkemdiche with Carradine, Dial and Purcell for depth sounds good to me.

This... If we can get bosa or nkemdiche. They'll do what justin smith did for Aldon.

This and any interior DL guy who needs double teamed or will collapse the pocket will make whoever is playing OLB look good. Armstead, Bosa and Lynch could cause major problems.

Unlike Jadeveon Clowney I've always loved Bosa's non stop motor.
