You mean a guy going from a high tempo spread offense in college to a high tempo spread offense in the NFL would not be able to adapt?

The whole "pro style QB" thing is such a red herring anyways. "Pro style QBs" flunk out of the NFL at a pretty high rate as well. Having played in "pro style" offenses did absolutely nothing for Brady Quinn and Jimmy Clausen.

If a guy is talented enough, willing to work and willing to learn, they will be able to thrive in any system. For the top 3 QBs in this draft, the transition to Kelly's offense would be easier than for any other in the NFL.

Also I wouldnt call what Wentz ran a "pro style offense." Its a spread system that had him taking more snaps under center but a spread system nonetheless.

Sounds like we deal with a lot of absolutes in these parts. I never said Goff couldn't adapt, nor do I think that. I'm sure in time he will do just fine.

But Goff, like the other QBs this year, will struggle if forced to start in year 1. I don't think that should be a surprise to anybody.

That said -- this is a moot point. If Kap stays, Wentz/Goff/Lynch are not options.

We dont know who is and isnt an option at this point. Its premature to say otherwise.

Eh. Wentz was a game manager on that North Dakota State team. That team is stacked. There is a reason they have won 5 national titles in a row. I mean in the title game, which was 98% of people first chance to see him play, he was 16 for 29 for 197 yards with 1 TD & 2 INTs.

I think it's fair to say that if Kap stays, it's VERY unlikely that we'd still be drafting a QB at #7 overall.

I agree but we have no idea who is and is not staying right now. I think once April 1st passes we'll have a better idea of what Kaepernick's future with the team will entail.

Of course, but people are going to speculate if they want to about everything. None of our speculation will affect what happens anyway. Should we shut down the forum until April 1st so people can't speculate?

I am not a huge fan of any of the qb's in this draft, and I understand Baalke may be on a short leash. But I really hope they don't stay away from someone because of Kap. That defeats the whole purpose behind signing him to what amounts to a series of one year deals imo.

He tweeted Hayne wearing a 49ers suit jacket.I say draft him if he is there.

Going to be a disaster if Wentz has to start his rookie year.

Same with Goff. Neither of those kids are close to being ready. Wentz would be more ready than Goff -- but that isn't saying much.

Well that isn't true at all.

OMGGGG if we get Goff imma freak the f*ck out

Phoenix, if Wentz is there at #7, do we take him?

I kind of like him. Good ar and athletic. Seems smart and looks like he has good leadership qualities from the practices.

That's what I'm wondering too. There's 3 teams ahead of us that could use a QB: Browns, Chargers, and Cowboys.

I think Goff will separate him and get snagged by Cleveland. Pears would've been and upgrade at OT for SD. They'll draft a LT. Dallas will go defense because that's where they need the most help. They'll bring in a QB in FA and likey draft someone in the 2nd-3rd.

I could see Wentz, Nkdemiche, Spence, VH3, and Jaylon there. Wentz would be intriguing because of his mobility, but he's not a top-10 player, IMO. I wouldn't touch a DB that early either.

For me, I'm prepping to see Nkdemiche, Spence, and possibly Buckner there. I'd be happy with any of them, assuming the hotel jumper checks out in interviews.
