This year looks especially unsettled.

He's got all the tools and a ton of upside, is just in need of some good coaching to improve his mechanics. He's also coming out of an offense that leans closer to "Pro-style" than anything that Lynch or Goff ran.
You think we take Goff if he's there at 7?

I have no idea what Kelly is thinking, if he's serious about committing to Kaepernick or if he just likes the idea of Kaepernick. If he tells Baalke that he wants his own QB to develop, I don't think that Baalke would refuse to accommodate him.I do know that out of the current top 3 QB's in the draft, any one of them would likely be a pretty good fit in his offense, for various reasons.

Possible. Its very feasible that whoever ends up being the first QB taken, the other guys drop for awhile.

Unless one of them monumentally screws up between now and the draft, Id expect all of them to be gone by the Texans pick in the 1st round.

Given the numerous needs to build the roster back up, I really don't see Baalke trading up to get either Lynch or Goff. Wentz is an interesting prospect...he has size, accuracy and some athleticism. He's also coming from a 5-time consecutive FCS championship team...so winning is part of his DNA. The other guy I could see Baalke drafting is Hogan...he's had a lot of success at Stanford and can definitely run. He needs to improve his accuracy, but he's a gamer, for sure.

Why trade up when its pretty likely that one of those guys, likely two will be available when the 49ers pick. If they really want a QB, one of these guys will be there at minimum.

One of ESPN's mocks (I forget who - bottom crawl on TV - can't find it on the website) has Wentz going at #4 to Dallas. Kinda makes sense.
Any way you look at it, I think it's likely at least 2, and possibly the 3 of them, are gone in the first 10-15 picks. Trades will take place as the teams who need the proverbial "Franchise QB" take the gamble. Could make most (all) of the Mocks crumble quickly.

Draft nugget: was just told if Carson Wentz does well at Senior Bowl he's gone before Dallas gets a shot at him at 4 overall.
IMO that's ridiculous...but if that drops Goff to us I'm cool with it.
I can't imagine Dallas would draft QB with #4 overall while Romo is still around with his big contract.
When was the last time a team drafted QB with a top 5 pick when they had a pro bowl QB?

We should definitely have at least one of Goff, Wentz, Lynch around at 7. I won't complain if any of them are our pick but still want to go defense

Agreed. Romo is still playing at a high level. They need to draft a QB but picking a backup QB at 4 is crazy when they have so many other needs
