Not even Drew Brees and that high powered offense can make the playoffs without defense.

We are not making the playoffs.

But, that is not to say we don't need to win games. At least get the offense to be able to stand on their own two feet first. Win a few games and keep the team morale intact while continuing with the lengthy rebuild process.

Realistically, the timeline I am looking at is as follows:

Year 1 - 6 wins
Year 2 - 9 wins
Year 3 - Playoffs

That should be a reasonable and achievable goal.

Our running game was about the only decent thing on last years team. We couldn't pass the ball. We couldn't stop the run and we couldn't stop the pass. Assuming Fournette is a stud...how much does a stud RB really improve this team?

Does he improve it yeah probably. Does he improve it more than a stud DLman or DB? Everyone loves to bring up Dallas last year, they were a playoff team with a healthy QB and a good RB the year prior and had a monster OL just waiting for a RB to put behind it. They had the receivers to go with it...just need a RB. Our offense is a total mess right now. Maybe not as bad as last year but injuries or not our RBs are the most proven skill positions on our offense right now.

Hyde, Hightower, Harris, etc...and Juice. We didn't pay him all that dough to be a blocker or sit on the bench. So now we want to spend #2 overall on a RB with all our other needs? I just don't get the love. Yeah he's a talented kid but he may not even be the best back on his college team. How special is he? It was clear Zeke was better than Hyde. Adrian a Peterson didn't have anyone outshining him at Oklahoma.

Man I really hope we don't take this kid.

Do you think Belichick would ever spend a number 2 pick on a rb? Helllllllllll naw. But Matt Miller says we should lmao so...

They'll just stack the box against him and stuff him like Alabama did. We need a team before we go all in on a rb.

Yea Gurley probably isn't as good as LF. But look how the Rams did relying on an elite RB. other positions are more important .

They can only stack the box if we have no passing attack whatsoever.

That is why we will need to draft a QB now, develop him for a year and then he can take over from Hoyer.

Also, we will need to draft some WRs too.

You can't just look at the run game in isolation, is football 101 that both the run and pass game work hand in hand.

But, in the meantime, Hoyer should be able to hold down the fort plus we have a few WRs like Garcon and Goodwin. It should be enough to get things going.

I'm not making a case for Fournette, more like any RB that lines up for us. I think you're gonna be surprised if teams do stack the box with the additions of Garcon,Robinson and Goodwin to tag along with Vance,Kerley,Juice,Hyde.

Stacking the box is where we definitely want to get to if possible. Play action is for real . I like

I think Rodgers will surprise as well. He has all the measurable. Im really rooting for the kid. Could also snag a Chris Godwin in the second.

Also Hoyer, when healthy, is a better QB than we have had on the roster at least since Alex Smith, and Shanahan is the best Offensive mind we have had leading the team since Walsh.

Teams will not be stacking the box against the 49ers for long. We will have growing pains, but they wont last long IMO.

I'd be nice if Rogers/Smelter can earn a roster spot as the big body WR. Ellington is on a contract year,he can possibly be a sneaky wild card. But I'm not counting on any of those guys. Atleast the staff can see them on the field for a few days before the draft.

I also think Hoyer will be solid and give us a good game manager mold of a QB that just needs to be locked in. Shanny makes the calls.

The Rams is different. First off, Jared Goff wasn't ready, then they had no O-line whatsoever for neither pass protection nor run-blocking. As a result, Jared Goff got sacked like nobody's business and Gurley had zero room to run.

Watch this clip, the Rams is the first team featured:

So draft RB, QB, WR with our first picks? We were losing last year because our historically bad defense.

LMAO. All true really, they had some weapons... But there's a reason why Gurley stopped running hard and called it a middle school offense lol.

We should be better off than last year and 2015, but who knows.

Its in the bag it will be a more overall and all around balanced offense with more time of possession. Im not saying that's gonna translate to 10 wins doe lol. I'm sure the eff gonna be optimistic as fudge doe,WHY NOT US ;)

No, I would say RB and QB, then go defense.

We can't draft for every position in one go.

So, if we don't have the opportunity to take a WR this time around, we will do it next year. But, we can still keep looking with UDFAs.

Interesting strategy. Poor Saleh. I doubt Shanny would do him dirty like that.

Yep, of course Fisher's schemes were crap. But, the main thing was the O-line, Gurley had zero chance as you saw with all those stats on the clip.

They do have some weapons, if they can fix that O-line, I think Sean McVay should be able to cook something up.
