Scooby Wright III MLB-Arizona

This guy's effort and passion for the game reminds me of the honey badger. I LOVE the way he not only is looking to make a tackle but makes the extra effort to GET THE BALL by creating turnovers.

He's a game wrecker but will fall due to ingury concerns...but I think Balkee is eyeing this guy in the 3rd round.

Borland-3rd round (regardless of him quitting he was a steal and almost DROY)

I'd love Scooby for sure but Jack is a athletic freak and can fly all over the field. How does Scooby's coverage skills match up with Jack's?

Scoobys best coverage ability is to blitz on a passing down lol

Well, they're different types of LB, and would be used in different ways. I don't know that a LB has to be an athletic freak to pass cover, most of their responsibility would be within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage. If your MLB is chasing a pass receiver 20 yards down field, you have a scheme problem. That is the job of the corners, safeties, nickel and dime backs.

Or to track down and tackle the quick slants and swing passes out of the backfield. Teams are willing to give up those completions for the most part, and just try to limit the yardage. Scooby is great at finding the ball carrier and bringing him down quickly.

I see luke kuechly down field in coverage all he time same with Willis when he was playing. That was the beauty of Willis and Bow they both could cover,play all 3 downs , and didn't need help in coverage.

It allowed a lot more flexibility in the secondary...id rather have Jack in the 1st vs scooby in the 2nd both are good players though.

I think most offensive teams would be happy to send Luke Kuechly down field in coverage all the time. We'll use Torry Smith, with his three targets a game to run Luke 20 yards downfield to the far sideline on every play. Also, Luke gets most of his picks through diagnosing the play before it happens, more so than having good speed. Scooby is much closer to him in that regard than Jack or Smith, I think.

Come on know that's not what I mean you know that. he can and has covered TEs down field with success same with bow and Willis without coverage help.

I think Wright's anticipation and football intelligence more than makes up for any lack of foot speed. His overall SPARQ score coming out of HS was the same as Jaylon Smith, who is supposed to be some sort of uber athlete.

I'm just being honest. I love Scooby and the fact he is training in Miami and will probably have a great 3 cone drill around 4 flat imo. But his coverage when he was asked to cover which didn't happen often was suspect. If we have a good D coordinator that doesn't let mismatches happen then he will be fine. Putting Scooby on RB in coverage is fine. Unless they have Darren Sproles type of RB in then get him off the field. Not really an insult because I think it was Bowman maybe Willis who got beat by Sproles in the playoffs against the Saints.

Don't think Scoob is going to be on the board for Day 2, honestly.

If he does what he says he wants to do at the combine with a sub 4 second 3 cone drill and get in the 4.6 40 yard dash range then he will find his way into the late 1st. He's got a major chip on his shoulder and I love that.

He'll move up a round based on his personality. He's a natural motivator who will make the players around him better. That shouldn't be discounted. Jack is a good kid, but just not as in your face as Scooby. Smith, I'm skeptical about. He seems much more self centered than the others.
