Connor Cook Scouts Inc Profile

Mental Makeup-2-Appears to make sound pre-snap reads in a pro-style offense. Does an above average job of getting through progressions and locating the open man. Anticipation is very good. Shows the ability to manipulate coverage with eyes. Stands in and takes some big hits to complete passes, but also appears to start feeling pressure that isn't there when defenders are around his legs. Inconsistent decision maker and decision making worsens in the face of pressure. Finished career with 3.5-1 TD-INT ratio.

Accuracy-3-Accuracy improved as a senior but remains a bit too inconsistent. His career completion percentage is 57.5. While he some difficult throws look easy, he will also miss on a few too many easier throws (generally because he has gotten lazy with footwork). He has good anticipation and gets the ball out before receiver breaks. Ball placement and timing on back-shoulder throws are usually on point. Flashes ability to make accurate off-balance throws. Shows above-average touch and mostly does a good job with trajectory of throws. Has too many balls batted down at the line for a QB with his height.

Release/Arm Strength-3-Average overall arm strength. Gets good zip on intermediate throws when footwork is sound. Shows the ability to squeeze the ball into tight windows, but lacks the ability to drive the ball when his vertically timing/mechanics are not perfect. He has a bit of a wind-up release. The ball comes out of his hand funny and flutters at times.

Pocket Mobility-3-Adequate pocket presence. Generally doesn't lower eyes as he climbs the pocket. Strong enough to intermittently slip out of a defender's grasps. Ball drifts away from his frame when moving around the pocket. Quick enough to get outside the pocket and pick up some yards with his feet, but he's not a threat to rip off chunk yards when scrambling.

What ESPN crack addict gave Connor Cook an "average" grade on arm & release? The guy has one of the quickest, smoothest, strongest releases in YEARS.
This guy needs work, watched his game Vs Michigan and he reminds me of Kap... Throws the ball hella short and will eventually hit the ground lol.

Michigan was the first team to pitch 3 consecutive shutouts in decades; their D was brutal. But you're right; he needs work. I wouldn't let him sniff the field as a rookie. But his arm & release are fantastic.

Per @PFF_College, Connor Cook ranked 55th of 70 QBs under pressure.
He thrown better deep than short/intermediate

good at presnap reads good mobility, and good accuracy on short-intermediate throws.

his accuracy sometimes was inconsistent but i think its because he gets flustered when the defense is getting a lot of pressure so he definitely has to learn to keep his composure and also improve his footwork.

I wouldnt want him to start anytime soon but i think if he sits on the bench and works on his weaknesses, he can be a very good QB someday

I think a quarterback with inconsistent accuracy wouldn't be a great fit for Kelly. Kelly has most frequently brought up "repetitive accuracy" as his #1 trait for a QB, I think a guy who wasn't particularly accurate in college isn't all that likely to suddenly find that accuracy in the NFL.

He looked awful at the combine

He is not like that.
He has a good deep ball but very inconsistent short/intermediate(thats why he is below 60pct%)
His footwork is putrid.Irregular ball placement

In terms of character the guy is clearly a scumbag.
His body language his expression its disgusting.

This kid "screams" Ryan Leaf all over the place
