Connor Cook watch

I didn't know you were his psychologist. Awesome!

The thing that separates Cook as the best QB of the bunch, IMO, is that he's EXTREMELY coordinated. He puts his hand out for play action & turns around to view the field quicker than any QB I've seen in a while. He also checks off his routes faster than any QB I've seen in a while. It's a mental thing. His ability to process is just extremely fast.

The one area he needs work is his feet. His arm is so strong that he sometimes gets sloppy with his footwork, and his passes are off a bit because of it. That's absolutely fixable. I'd much rather have a guy with inconsistent footwork than a guy who struggles mentally or a guy who holds on to the ball too long.

Cook is gonna be a guy who frustrates the crap out of pass rushers because they'll barely ever get close to him. Cook just surveys & releases too quickly for the pass rush to get to him. He'll make O-linemen look really good. With Cook, a GM can concentrate on finding O-linemen who are great run-blockers & not have to worry about them being all-pro' pass protectors (like Iupati). That's a recipe for a demoralizing offense (demoralizing for the other team of course).

And the "character concerns" about this guy are laughable. Winston went #1 overall with a criminal record; tons of college players smoke weed & are known party animals (Manziel). THOSE are the kinds of things that should concern you about character. Cook awkwardly accepted a friggn' trophy. Woopdie-doo.

I don't give 2 s**ts about how Cook received that trophy. What I care about is that his teammates didn't select him as team captain and rarely say anything positive about him in interviews when asked about Cook's play. Winston's teammates loved him even though he made some ridiculous decisions off the field. Not being liked or respected by teammates should concern you about character.

I'm not sure how you reconcile your view with Cook with the numbers he puts up (which are not great despite being on a talented team) and the fact that his team looks just as good without him. He has problems with more than just his footwork.

His numbers are still good. His YPA is almost the same as Goff's with a much harder schedule.

7.9 YPA and 5 picks all year shows that he's efficient & doesn't turn the ball over. The low completion percentage is counteracted by the fact that he throws deep a lot (hence the 7.9 YPA).

College stats mean next to nothing. There is no telling what stats are garbage yards, what stats came against pathetic teams, and so on. It's not like the level of competition is close like in the NFL.

Except they do. No QB with Cook's completion percentage has had any sort of real success in the NFL over the past decade. Just like with Hackenberg, youre hoping that the guy will be a rare exception instead of the rule.

It also doesnt help that they had their biggest win of the year without him in the lineup, showing that he is playing on a pretty damn stacked roster compared to the other QBs

Ball placement has been an issue as well, with him often throwing passes high or behind the receiver, without outstanding performances from them, his completion percentage would be even worse. He has played on a stacked college team and has not crossed the 60% barrier even once.

Then you throw in him being the only top QB prospect that wasnt a team captain and it seems that even in college he was seen as just some guy and not THE guy by his own teammates.

That to me is the most off-putting part. Ordinarily guys love and want to follow the QB.

When do you hear of a senior star QB that isnt a team captain? How much of a dick or social outcast must he be for the guys who know him best to be like "nope."

I amhoping the 49ers pass on him.
Of course that stats in college matter.
Only 1 of 32 starters in NFL did'nt have at least 1 college season = or above 60%pct
The elusive one is Matt Cassell

People say that college stats dont matter its stupid

20/30 years ago Cook would be a lock top 3, now he is a 3rd rounder

Cook's attitude ****in sucks, I hope the 49ers stay far away from him.

Carson Wentz and Brandon Doughty>>>>>>>>>>>>Conor Cook.
Yards per attempt are far more important than completion percentage. Cook throws deep a lot, and it all evens out because his YPA is around 8.

You know who's an ideal teammate & a great leader? Tim Tebow.

I'll take the social outcast whose arm, release & ability to get rid of it quickly are the best in college football, and you can have Rudy play QB. I'll bet I win.

I don't want to jump to conclusions or anything. Would you care to explain what is going on in this photo?
