Great pick!

Dude is Hah-yoooooooge, though. Worries me that the ZBS switch isn't happening. He's supposedly pretty nimble for his size, but what does nimble look like at 350#, lol?

Thought the same exact thing. Another "pulling G."

We currently have solid starters in Boldin and T. Smith. Both Ellington and Patton had productive college careers and one of them should step up this year, with more likelihood than some of the WRs in this draft from the 3rd round onward. The Jerome Simpson signing is a wild card, but no denying his talent and Baalke added a 2015 roster stasher that people have called one of the steals of the draft.

In short, we're all good at the WR spot for the time being.
who???

Smelter

Baalke will do some amazing stuff, and I'm not saying he's a bad GM. But he kills me every draft by passing on really good WR prospects at EVERY PHASE of the draft. He just out thinks himself and gets too cute. It just kills me watching our inability to run a passing game bite us year after year, and then watch us pass on quality WRs draft after draft....

I totally get it with the passing on receivers bit. I'd have taken Jordan Matthews in 2014, but I ended up liking who we did draft (Chris Borland) and he filled a major need. Unfortunately, we retired and we can't blame Baalke for that. This year, my guy was Kevin White, until he showed out at the Combine and Phillip Dorsett who catapulted himself into 1st round status with his combine, senior bowl, and pro days. There are other guys, but you can't be too down on us taking DeAndre Smelter. We have to wait a year, but I don't think it's a stretch to think this guy could be a starter.

But look at our current roster as it stands. Anquan Boldin, Torrey Smith, Jerome Simpson, Quinton Patton, and Bruce Ellington. I think that's a pretty good group of receivers, with the hope that the coaching staff will actually use them. We had more talent at receiver this time last year, but I think we have a better mixture going into the 2015 season in terms of skill sets. I also think that Baalke is satisfied with that group and much like the rest of us, wants to finally give Patton and Ellington a chance to shine. The only thing we absolutely "need" at this point in terms of receiver is extra depth in case we are bitten by the injury bug.
Dude is a Mountain. Takes 3 hours to run around him

Your bar for "all good" is way lower than mine, apparently.... We need more than that if we want to improve our passing game from last year.

And going forward we have T Smith, 2 guys I like but who have done little, and 1 draft pick coming off an ACL injury. That's definitely not "all good."

Just to ensure I have your argument straight, you wanted to replace two guys who you like, and who have SOME NFL experience, with rookie WRs who have NO NFL experience to improve our passing game? I can understand if we had taken somebody with 1st - 2nd round talent, but I'm glad we spent those picks to bolster our defense instead, which is much more important to the overall health and success of the team.
So next year we are looking at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5(SD), 6, 6(DAL), 7. Did i miss any? Probably get another 4th in comp or more.
Gotta get a small school corner with huge potential that nobody has heard of with our last pick. only fitting.
