But in the 5th round when you have failed to address the backup swing OT spot (for years!) as well as ILB where we've lost 2 starter-level players (including a would've been HoFer). Me no likey.
That said, this draft has been pretty solid in keeping with the plan. Armstead to help replace Smith/Dockett in a year. Tartt to replace Bethea in a year. Harold to hedge our bets at OLB with Aldon's contract year and Brooks being, well, Brooks. You draft Bell as one of the more intriguing TE prospects in this draft, Mike Davis who sounds a bit Gore-ish according to scouting reports, and Smelter as the potential Boldin replacement. That is a quality draft to me.
I just don't like the idea of Erik Pears being THE backup at both OT spots, as well as potentially starting at LG (ugh). It's better than relying on Boone to slide out in a pinch, but not by much. Then Wheeler and/or Bishop being first off the bench at ILB? I hope Moody or Skov can make a jump.
Just remember, fellow Faithful, that CB was never high on the list of priorities going into this draft. They addressed that spot 3 times last draft as well as with signing Wright and resigning Cook.
Agree on all that.
And I would add KR/PR to the list of needs. And that guy could be a WR, RB or CB, because we have question marks at all those spots.
So what guys are left that you guys are hoping we can get? Especially at ILB, OL, and WR?
