I haven't seen a thread for this guy? 6-8 290 LBs STRENGTHS Improved by leaps and bounds from 2013 to 2014. Elite size with ability to add more bulk to his frame. Quick-twitch athlete. Explodes up field into blockers with good pad level and hip snap, gaining instant leverage against the run and often jarring them into the backfield. Gets good arm extension to control offensive linemen and peppers them with powerful hands. Can unlock quickly from blocks. Has above-average tackle radius thanks to his length and quickness. WEAKNESSES Power-based pass rush with very little production to show for it over his time at Oregon. Plays tall as pass rusher and doesn't use his hands to gain consistent advantages. Has no reliable counter moves when rush stalls. Gets caught up in whipping man in front of him rather than making the ball carrier his focus. Will win against an offensive lineman, but doesn't put himself into position to finish. I don't think people realize how much simpler an NFL draft can be by looking at it from an economical standpoint.

The OP of taking this guy is just too high with all the potential talent surronding him. Not to mention there isn't much that separates him from fellow potential 3-4 DE like Marcus Hardison and Henry Anderson (whom I would rather have and are projected to be 3rd round picks).

Baalke is too smart to take this guy

While Dion Jordan did not fail a drug test, per sources, NFL determined one of his test samples was diluted, which counts as a strike.

Bleacher report used to be a laughing stock but in the last three years they have hired a bunch of real reporters with credible backgrounds. The recent story on DGB written by a former longtime Sports illustrated writer is a great example of how they are changing. Yes they still have garbage on their site but if you dismiss it right away because of the BR website you are stuck in 2013.

My favorite part is that after almost every single reputable website has mocked Armstead to us for the last month this dude from BR decides he's hearing buzz we're going to draft him

Why thank you! The Draft becomes much simpler when you look at it like an investment. When you are projecting guys in the first round you are taking on quite a bit of risk, by basically hoping he can become what you want. when on the other hand many of the picks in the first round are very productive and polished in comparison and can potentially net similar value. Its never a simple science but I just can not sit here and believe this guy will be the best pick at 15 for this team. Like you said, there are players of similar production and value in the 2nd to third round.

Again there are many examples of players who have become better pros then they were college players especially underclassmen who declare. The draft is simply not that simple. Projecting ceilings, judging work ethic and what can be taught vs not is all part of the process.

If Danny Shelton had come out as a JR his thread would look very similar. Size and athleticism but lacks production. Danny Shelton went back to school and had a huge senior year and now is a top ten pick. If Armstead went back to school who's to says his production doesn't take that same jump. The goal as a GM especially with these underclassman is see the future and which way the arrow is pointing.

So B/R says he's a lock to us at #15 if he's on the board...

In other words, we're not drafting him lol

Nothing against B/R, but nobody guesses Baalke's pick. NOBODY. Except for maybe MadDog.

As other have said, he's too risky a pick. He could be a dynamite player, but there's just too many red flags. Commitment issues, average production at best, and he's raw. We could go D-line at #15 but I'll be surprised if it's Armstead.
