It would be fun to see Sherman try to stick with Lockett.

Lockett will tear his ass up.

I love Lockett. God help us if he somehow becomes a pat. I could see him becoming a pro bowler in no time in that offense.
The Potential to be great is nice, but I prefer demonstrated ability with lot'sa potential .....I like DT M.Brown

They're both elite DL, have versatility and no baggage, no work ethic issues. They have non-stop motors and either guy can make an impact right away. Do you really think either Armstead or Carl Davis could tie up 2 blockers on virtually every play? No way. Goldman can do that. They could plug Brown in just about anywhere on the DL. Too much talent, too much versatility to pass up.

NCommand approves of this post!

On point!! Totally down with that
If everyone thinks we are gonna draft Armstead, then there is 0% chance Baalke drafts him. He is gonna draft someone all of the draft experts have valued in the 20's. He has a history of drafting someone higher than everyone expects. (I.e. Aldon, Jenkins, Reid, Ward) My guess is someone like Kevin Johnson, and all of the Zoners will complain about taking him so high or taking ahead of peters or not trading down.

Yes. Every thing I see about Armstead from the pundits is his "potential" based almost exclusively on his physical traits.

Baalke places very much weight on film, and it is hard to believe based upon his meager production that Armstead had first round film.

Kentwan Balmer 2.0

Trade down, pick up an extra high 3rd, select Byron Jones at ~#27-32 range. With the extra 3rd pick either Henry Anderson DE or Chris Conley WR. . . . . Thereby turn the #1 pick into two eventual starters, both with high potential

Add in Stephone Anthony or Kendricks with the 2nd pick and golden. (May require trade up to top of second)

Trade for Kendrick's brother for a 4th would be even better and replace Conley with Lockett

this Trade down in the first, better value, need Wr or CB in 1st and try to get a 2nd or 3rd Rd pick

So is Arik Armstead the mock draft favorite for the 49ers?

Everywhere but on the webzone. I still think 15 is too high for him and he doesn't have ideal length even though he's 6'7 (I was really disappointed with his arm length of 33" and DGB's of 32 1/2"). I still wish we had gotten Stephon Tuitt last year so we wouldn't feel obligated to draft a DE this year. If Tank has progressed, maybe we will go in a different direction.

Exactly what I thought about him!

I said this also.
I will say this about Armstead. If Okoye is ever good enough to see the field we can play them both at DT in field goal defense. With those two giants inside we'd block something like 8 fg's a year lol.
Interesting read...on AA.

Just got done watching him on game changers on nflnetwork and hell no!!! He stands and plays way to high, and he looks seriously lazy. He was doing a couple of drills next to Leonard Williams and looked like he had no enthusiasm at all while LW was going like a mad man with a lot of motor. I know this wasn't game play in pads, but you can tell a lot about him by just watching this casual no contact practice with his demeanor. Definitely Balmer Jr! Please Trent! Don't pick this guy!
if you want a 6'6"+ athletic project player draft Brian Mihalik in the 7th! 6'8" 295 lbs and he ran a 4.86 40 at his proday and had a 34.5" vertical. I would much rather pick a project guy like him later than a guy like Armstead in the first. I actually liked Armstead as a 2nd round guy coming in, but all this talk of him at 15 is making me not like him.
