Mariota falling to the 18th spot is straight full potato

My first thought is like I have predicted the Seahawks will take Todd Gurley. That is why I have been saying it is imperative we take Melvin Gordon in the 1st to stand a chance in countering their run game going forward.

What's wrong with Hyde?? Drafting someone so that another team doesn't get him doesn't make sense. Gordon doesn't make it to Seattle and they can have Gurley, who knows how he will be after his injury.

There is nothing wrong with Hyde, but he alone will not be enough to go up against Seattle's RB corps.

This stopped me in my tracks, as it were! Jets, Titans, Bears and Rams all could use a QB but the Chiefs have several developmental QBs already on hand. They could really use a WR, OL or DB--especially a safety.

White is my favorite for the niners pick so I like that.

Basically, gurley is Eric Dickerson; a great player. You don't pass on great players.

Pretty sure he isn't playing against their RBs lol...they have Hunter and will either resign Gore or draft a RB (not in the 1st rd). There are a ton of positions that are ahead of RB and besides Lynch (who most likely isn't there next yr) who do they have? Micheal and Trubin haven't proven to be much more than backups.

Marcus Lattimore was a great player ... ACL injuries can be rough and you jsut don't know how well a player or how fast his knee will degenerate.
Their injuries are not really comparable. the severity of ML's injuries were substantially worse than TG's injury.

Marcus Lattimore tore his ACL on his 1st injury, and then he tore every single ligament(ACL, MCL, PCL and LCL) and discolated his kneecap on his 2nd injury.

Todd Gurley just tore his ACL.

I don't know if you realize this, but RB's don't play against each other.

You beat me to it. I was scratching my head on that one.

On another note, we can counter Seattle's run game a few ways. We can either beef up the D-line or we can get more explosive on offense to eliminate the threat of the run game. Bear in mind, Seattle over the last four seasons HAS NOT done well against us offensively, save for that 42-12 whipping in Seattle a few years back. I don't "fear" Seattle having another great back. I'm more afraid if they get some game breaking receivers to match their strong running game. I'd prefer they stay exactly as they are on offense, dependent on Beast Mode to get anything going.

Add some home run hitters to this offense like Phillip Dorsett, Duke Johnson, Tyler Locker, Jamison Crowder, etc, and things open up for the rest of the players and we should see more touchdowns on the board. I don't like Russell Wilson's chances of beating this D by passing alone.

If we are being completely honest, stopping Lynch isn't going to be our focus going forward. I'm thinking he is gone after this season.
Our true task on stopping that offense, is stopping Wilson's ability to scramble. Say what you will, Lynch gets a lot of those holes because of Wilson's ability to avoid pressure and hurt defenses outside the pocket.
That being said, whatever Clay Matthews was doing prior to the 4th quarter was amazing. They had him in some sort of man spy weak side ILB that would transition to the outside if Wilson scrambled. Then they had Clinton-Dix cover the top with Hawk dropping back into a cover 2 formation. It was beautiful

If we draft a defensive player who is tasked with stopping Lynch, he better have the brains to recognize Wilson's talent (and the talent to catch him)
