The problem with drafting Shelton is he'd translate to a NT on the Niners...with Dorsey coming back he and Williams will battle to see who's number 1. My money's on Dorsey, who in 2013 gave us the most consistent play at that position in years. Chiefs tried him at DE and it just didn't work. That said, I understand why so many like Shelton...one concern I'd have with him is controlling his weight. If Baalke & Tomsula could be convinced he's got the discipline to keep himself in top playing shape, they could take a shot with him.

I wholeheartedly agree DL is the position to draft in the 1st rd...I'd just pick Eddie Goldman, a huge (6-3, 315-320) DE who can also play effectively inside. With him you'd get more versatility.

WRT Coates, he's good...but I'd opt for Jaelen Strong, from AZ St. Dude's a big (6-3, 215) baller with enough speed to create separation.

I agree with your positions for #1 & 2...I'd just take different guys.
