how did u come up with 2 1st round picks ???? not sure why i see some many against resigning Chris Culliver he's been doin pretty good N shouldnt cost a arm N leg ...
*justin smith is signed through 2015, so no need to resign.
*the chances of SF getting significant draft picks for Harbaugh are pretty low.
*your first three picks address areas of relatively little need (safety and middle linebacker).
*we are projected to be tight against the cap in 2015. Even with money saved from cutting brooks and Davis, we couldn't afford the FAs you suggest.
*we lose crabs, Vernon and iupati, but add a speed receiver, a rookie swing tackle and a couple of journeymen TEs in FA, and you think we will be the 8th best offense?!?!?!?!?!
*seattle will be just as strong, Arizona will be healthier and stronger, and the rams are a healthy QB away from contending. Where do we win 12 games in that?

Cut Andy Lee? Bench Eric Reid? Bench Aaron Lynch? Cut Dial? Kevin Wilhoite? 50 players on the final roster?

Yeah I wasn't sure about Smith's status -- guess all the talk of him retiring made me he think his contract was up
Yep -- if not Justin Houston we'll have to count on Lynch and Smith -- but I think a 3rd option behind those two would be smart
What do you think our positions of need are? We have a ton of players coming back next year from injury and from the injured draft.
In regards to the offense do you really think Crabtree, Vernon, and Iupati made our offense go this season? SJ can easily replace Crabs, Brandon Thomas can replace Iupati, and Vernon Davis has been horrendous in blocking and receiving. If not Donnell and Gresham, maybe at least one of them provided Vernon comes back 100%. They both block and receive well and have done nothing but catch TD passes this season. So what will push over the top is the first thing stated in my post -- the coaching change. If Harbaugh and Roman stays -- then all bets are off, for now.

Dude Lee's been in the league for over 11 years. How did he do this year? If he has a final year on his contract then yeah let's keep him.

I'm not saying to bench anyone -- just projections -- may the best man win. And who knows a lot of teams go with heavy rotations with the front 7 -- why not us if we can? So does starter vs. bencher really mean anything?

I forgot about Dial -- he's back in there :)

And this is a quick and easy mock -- I am not in it for every single minute detail. Take it for what it is -- a general proposal.

The o line needs retooling. Generally the offense needs to be upgraded and improved. I like drafting a stud DE, and resigning cully or cox to relatively cheap deals.

We already have 2 good safeties w/ ward waiting in the wings. We already have 2 all pro middle linebackers, and a stud replacement.

We would be better served drafting in areas of weakness like O-line and WR instead of bolstering positions where we have a surplus.
Anyone watching this season's offensive disaster can't abide drafting defensive players with its first three selections.
Who is Kevin Wilhoite?

This. It's a nice draft, but still leaves us relatively weak on offense.
So let me get this straight:

Borland was ranked as the 2nd best MLB prior to his injury and we have Willis and Bowman to go along with Wilhoite and Moody and you spend a 2nd round pick on a MLB?? Wow.

Houston will not hit the market in KC.

Eric Reid and Jimmy Ward as backups?

And our offense loses a pile of players yet you think we will be top 10?

Dont quit your day job man.
Drafting a FS in the 1st round doesn't make any sense. We need depth there but Reid is a beast, Bethea is awesome at SS and Ward will eventually be a S.

Signing Houston would be good I guess but not for the money he'd get, esp considering we have Lynch already (and I'm not even sure he's a FA after this year)

I agree we could get rid of VD but if we do, we need to spend a high pick to replace him Gresham is a walking injury.

Spending a 2nd round pick on an ILB when we have Willis, Bowman coming back and Borland proved himself makes less than zero sense.

You waited until round 3 to really get us some speed on offense and you literally took a pro-bowl FS and made him a backup SS.

This is perhaps the worst mock off season I've ever seen, everyone who read it is now dumber for having doing so. I reward you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Reid is getting weak in the head if you know what i mean he wont be lasting much longer. And Bethea is past his prime and we don't know what we're getting with Jimmie Ward.

And who knows what kind of defensive scheme we'll be getting into -- we could easily go to a 4-3 and then what would say about Perryman? He can play inside or coverage outside. And we really don't know how Bowman will respond next season. Borland could be trade bait??

We have speed with Patton and Ellington if we use them properly. Ty Montgomery will blow the top off of anyone.

don't understimate the power of the Glory :P

Some notable players he had picking for the 49ers over the years -- Sidney Rice, Golden Tate, DeSean Jackson, Coradelle Patterson, Beckham and Matthews this past draft.
It's funny how someone calls our mediocre FS a beast when he's been knocked out of games with a concussion at least three times now in the past 2 seasons.

Whereas a 2x pro bowl TE who's played in 90% of the games in his 4 year career is called "walking injury". LMAO. Get yo facts straight, son!
Like the Shane Carden pick in the 5th.

We should think about his going after his go to WR Justin Hardy in the 2nd or 3rd round.
