A running back we didn't need (Gore, Hunter, Lattimor, James) and a whole lot of camp fodder from round 5 and beyond.
Mathews, Lattimer, Lee....... those were the WRs we could have used and in fact NEEDED! SJ from Buffalo helps ease the pain but TRADING UP to get an RB in the second round... I guess we're alot deeper in the defensive backfield that I knew. Guess Culliver must be cleared not getting suspended and is a low risk for repeated stupidity........Hello Balke.... are you out of your mind?

Just like last year and year before,
Almost everyone blasts Baalke.
Then, after the dust settles, the draft is evaluated and we see - Not perfect but DAMN good.
Let's let it play out.
BTW, who saw the Johnson trade coming?
IMO, Trent is far from done.

It would be interesting to learn how that played out. Somehow I believe it had been discussed in advance. Things worked a certain way and it became reality.

Baalke has done a great job in this draft so far. They have used their picks to perfection with the moves up and down. We replaced the Johnson trade pick by only giving up a 7th rounder. Absolute genius move.

They have a buttload of picks tomorrow too meaning a lot of flexibility to move around and take the guys they really want, as well as acquire more picks next year.
Likely we moved up in next years 4th round to get Johnson. Unless he is gang busters and becomes a 3rd rounder. But then....WHO CARES!

This is likely Gore's last year. We basically just replaced dixon. James is basically punt returner and we don't know yet how Lattimore will turn out. Bottom line is if Gore is gone next year we have Hunter, Lattimore, and this guy Hyde. As much as we rely on the run it's good business to have a deep stable of backs, especially considering how low they tend to go in the draft now.

Yeah, some people need therapy before they post during the draft.

Wow, I didn't put that all together, but it's true. Essentially, we moved from 56 to 57 and gave up a 7th this year to move UP in the 4th rd next year AND add Stevie Johnson. pretty crazy

What Baalke got was some very good players, and an additional 4th rd pick in this draft and another for 2015.

Baalke made a brilliant move. We went from 56 to 63 and got a 5th rd pick plus a 2015 4th rd pick. Then used the 5th rd pick to move back up to #57. Basically he stole a free 4th rd pick in 2015.
Then we traded back from 61 to 70 for a 5th rd pick and then drafted Marcus martin at #70
in exchange for passing on Latimer . . . basically a direct byproduct of the Stevie Johnson deal.
