The "how is there no Louis Nix AKA Irish Chocolate thread?" Thread

Wow...some of you seem to think you know more than our front office. Sometimes players do things no one can explain, a la Aldon and Culliver. Like every NFL team's front office, the Niners do background checks, they talk to players, coaches, scouts, etc. They don't purposely draft bad seeds...yes, there's been too much bad publicity lately. It happens. I'm hearing a lot of trashing the FO...haven't heard any real solutions yet. Or, are you fair weather Niner fan???

What are you talking about? We were discussing Nix and, if anything, we're bashing Todd McShay not the Front Office. Where was Baalke ever mentioned in this thread?

evaluating the raw talent, playmaking, and effort level (competitiveness) of players is not that hard. there's no esoteric club you have to be in named the general manager illuminati. you just need some smarts and experience working with athletes, and understand biomechanics and sport-specific technique. it's not esoteric; it's known stuff. the hard part is understanding the quality of the player's decision making. that's where gm's and personnel guys have the upper hand on the common people; they can talk to everyone close to the player and get the lowdown on how the player thinks and processes in real time out there. they know the quality of coaching a guy is getting. they don't have to guess about why a player makes mistakes during a game; they know the guy's mental makeup, and can zero in on the cause. if we were privy to this, we could be draft pros also. baalke and his comrades are not geniuses. they're focused on their jobs and a little lucky, also.

Ok he did mention Baalke, but I saw no bashing which was implied. In the post you mention, he's just talking prospects on general. We all talk about we like this player or that player, but we really don't know what makes a prospect tick. We as fans just know what a prospect does on the field. We have no knowledge of his off the field issues, mental makeup, how they were raised. I could be wrong, but I don't think he was implying anything about recent events with our team nor was he bashing Baalke or our front office.

I looked pretty thoroughly (I think), and I couldn't find a Louis Nix thread. Did I just miss it like 6 times or has he gotten absolutely no discussion?

Todd McShay (whom I respect a lot compared to a lot of other draft analysts) has him going 39th overall. I think it would be absolutely crazy if that happened. Are people forgetting how good this guy is?

The dude is a Vince Wilfork clone. See for yourself:

Almost every play I've seen him he was either getting double-teamed or the play went away from him. He's about as safe a pick as you're ever going to find in the NFL, and I'd take him over any DB or WR in this entire draft class. I don't care that DL isn't as big of a need as WR & CB; a guy like that is going to be a pain in the ass of offensive coordinators for a decade, and there will be nothing an offense can do. You can double a WR or throw away from a DB; it's impossible to neutralize a great DL.

If Louis Nix is there and the Niners pass on him I might burst a blood vessel (like I did back in 2004 when I almost broke my TV as it was announced they traded the pick instead of taking Vince Wilfork).

Which one is Vince Wilfork? lol Them dudes are twins
I like Nix but i think tha better Irish chocolate D-lineman is Tuitt he can play anyway on our line ....

Love me some Tuitt as well, but I think Nix has a much higher floor and just as high of a ceiling. Plus Tuitt has that foot injury. I saw Tuitt get p'wned Cyrus Kouandjio, but I've never seen anyone get the better of Nix all day.
