I like Cooks. If I were to predict the top 3 most likely to be Niners it would be Cooks, Lee or Verrett.

I love cooks although short NOT small was very productive and durable compared to tavon austin, percy harvin and even Odell Beckham in college

Thank you !
He is short not small. Something that many people tend to mix up.

I agree for the most part with NFL.com's scouting evaluation of him: Overall, he is a shifty receiver who will bring some value to a team, but little more than a slot receiver. He was not a feared return man, his FIELD speed is not elite (4.33 is a deceptive time), and he struggled mightily with press/jam (team had to do everything they could to get him a different matchup -- but in the NFL, a good press-system team will have an complete legion of corners who will use the technique to blanket you).
They did a great job highlighting his strengths and weaknesses. These things, collectively, are why I grade him a 3rd and not a 1st rounder.

It would be fun and exciting to watch if we did draft Cooks. Last year we had alot of injuries on offense. Roman will have to be much more creative if we could actually get Kap, Crabs, Boldin, Vernon, Gore and Cooks on the field at the same time. Just seems crazy to think about all those playmakers on our offense.

I'd be more than happy with Cooks along with a handful of other prospects. This draft class is like a smorgasboard.

No doubt Harbaugh said our offense of philosophy will need to be changed looking for a #3 WR to give kaepernick more options

Bench press for receivers is very overrated by some people. Cooks has very short arms and did not put enough effort into blocking in college. He's still small and not very strong - he just happens to be good at one particular exercise which he can't fully take advantage of because he won't easily get his hands on defenders with how short his arms are.
I think he's a first rounder, but I would view him almost exactly the same if he only put up 8 reps on the bench. He isn't going to outmuscle or outreach guys to break press coverage and he isn't going to be a good blocker, but he can be a decoy on running downs and a deep threat and slot receiver.
Beckham is a much better blocker and may have an easier time against press coverage because he has very long arms for his height and is as quick as Cooks. It doesn't look like there is much of a difference in speed between Cooks and Beckham on the field - Cooks probably has better technique in the 40 yard dash because he has a lot more experience running track. I also don't have absolute faith in the electronic timers at the combine after seeing simultaneous 40's where the winners had slower times. I also think Beckham has better (and bigger) hands and he has a much bigger catch radius.

I highly disagree with you Beckham had a better team and better opposite WR in Landry. Cooks was double teamed a lot and still produced and has been durable compared to Beckham who has had back problems in college.
As far as blocking yea Beckham is but that's about it everything else cooks

I'm sure Cooks got way more targets than Beckham. Production is heavily dependent on how often you are targeted. The same goes for Jordan Matthews. Both got tons of targets as the #1 receiver on their team but I don't immediately equate receiving yards and ability.
Cooks has better timed speed and may be more durable. That's it - he's not quicker or more explosive than Beckham, he had a smaller vertical and Beckham has much better length and better hands. I even think Beckham is the better route runner. Without knowing how many targets each receiver had, trying to compare receiving yards is meaningless.

I agree with 49er_Rider Cooks is better WR always doubled team, durable & productive . Cooks had more targets because beckham missed games with back injury should be a concern and can't be ignored.
I'm not enamored with measurables at the WR position (Jerry Rice factor) I focus at production, durability and how defenses played the WR
