Based on how our WR are doing thus far in preseason I would say that WR is going to be another high priority next off season. After looking at some of the WR that will be eligible for 2014 draft, Mike Evans is my favorite of the bunch. He is a big receiver at 6'5" and 225 lbs. The guy is a beast. I hope that we can trade up and grab him in next years draft if he declares. I think he will declare if Manziel declares which seems like a certainty at this point with his autograph scandal. Check out his highlight reel.

Very...very raw. Not sure if the 49ers want another project at WR. Evans didn't start playing football until his final year of high-school. He has the size and leaping ability to make for a pretty good possession receiver, tremendous catching ability but a very iffy route runner. He's not a guy who will be a major contributor "right out of the box" IMO if he comes out for the next draft, ideally, he should stay at Texas A&M until 2015 but if Manziel bounces, he might do so as well.

Yeah I have him ranked very low, like #18 among WRs. Basically a late round flyer. But that is if he came out right now with only 1 college season under his belt.
Compared to another TE, Jimmy Graham, I don't think Evans quite measures up. I think Graham is about 2 inches taller (I think Evans is 6'4 or maybe 6'5) and obviously has a more filled out body (Graham was at 260lbs after college, Evans is probably 230). Graham ran low 4.5s, and I'd put Evans speed high 4.5's or 4.6. So I'm not positive Evans could put on the weight needed of a TE and have comparable speed.
But Evans will just be a sophomore next year and has plenty of time to improve. I think it would be a big mistake for him to leave after his sophomore year unless he shows dramatic improvement.
His route running, route tree, hands, feet, burst, work off the line ect. are all below nfl standards. But he obviously has a unique combo of size and speed, body control and although his hands aren't great now, they look pretty large and very strong. He just needs consistency with his hands. He just needs practice. He dominates the college level by pure out muscling much smaller CBs.

Mike Evans reminds me a bit of Mike Williams (of USC fame). Not as polished and smaller but probably a much better work ethic.

Love this guy! Just the type of player we need to beat Seattle's press coverage. The dude is a beast out there!

Man that guy is awesome. But isn't he just a sophmore? He's not coming out this year. Maybe next year or the year after. He has a long way to go. Great hands, big play ability, goes up in the air and gets it, fights for the ball. He's not super fast but fast enough to be effective IMO.

Redshirt Sophomore. Could if Manziel leaves. He is Raw, but got a lot of talent.

The one thing I'm noticing he needs to work on is his release. He can beat press man but he has to keep CBs off his body. Pair him with another strong WR who has the speed and you have one big headache for the secondary.

Sold. He'll be ours. Arm length is a huge factor for our scouts.

Evans is my favorite big WR and has been since the very beginning of 2012, before the Manziel hype brought more attention to him. I think he has a very good future at the pro level.

We need this guy, after the play of our receivers this year we need a big bodied beast and endzone threat.

Don't mind me guys but just a snap judgement from that one video the guy looks more like he could be a great TE than WR. 225? Looks like 235 to me... you guys think he has the speed to separate from NFL corners? Looks like he'd be a great target at TE to me but I could be wrong.
Edit: Let me clear things up if that was confusing. Not saying we should draft him to be a TE. I don't think we should take a TE at all this draft. If we did would be someone in rounds 4-7 to compete with Celek and Harper if they plan on making him a TE.
