Still not the biggest Whitner fan, but I trust the FO

We do have a TON of DBs. "drafting ahead of need" is why we all thought we'd target more, but we could always just cross that bridge when we get to it.

One thing seems obvious: The FO believes the secondary problems were more the lack of pass rush than poor performance by the DBs. Hence the heavy emphasis on front 7 guys who can put pressure on the QB. Whether they have solved the problem or not, I agree with the approach. I'm sure Baalke will be glad to hear I approve.

This. I think too many people in the zone were getting caught up in the media thinking it was the DBs. They were playing ridiculously good for most of the season

I think there is a good chance the Niners target CB very high next year.
Part of the reason that we've been so effective defensively is our ability to get pressure on the QB with only 4 guys rushing the QB. That's an important distinction. It wasn't just our inability to get to the QB toward the end of the season that hurt us, it was our inability to get there while still having 7 guys in coverage. Enter Dorsey, Carradine, & Lemonier.

A whole presser by Manti Te'o by NFL Network...?!

Enough already... he's not even that good of a football player. Holy s**t!

Yah he only won the most awards of any college football player ever.....but yes, enough already.

He's a freakin' 2nd Round pick.

Two things, hes the most decorated college football player, cat fish scandal, the media is gonna ride Te'o out for as long as they can.

I wouldn't want him on my team because of two things. Every road game you play with this guy he is going to be jeered at for the whole hoax or cat fish thing or whatever you want to call it. That is an unneeded distraction and something I wouldn't want anywhere near my team. Doesn't matter what he does that will always be associated with his name. The dude could make the hall of fame and you say that name and I will always think of the hoax b******t first and foremost. Maybe that is the media's fault but they successfully drilled it into my head.

Plus there is the question of intelligence of any player that could be stupid enough to get involved in a scandal like that in the first place. It's almost something a junior high kid would get involved in and fall for.

As much as people point out his football prowess that whole mess will always precede his legacy.

Isn't it a little junior high to let that scandal bother you??

I could give a rats ass what happened in that scandal, if he balls out like I've seen him through the years then the scandal is a fart in the wind. I mean Te'o has done everything to try and avoid the media hes not letting it distract him and that's all that matters.

Having to cover all the new slot WRs in the NFC West with the current group of CBs might be problematic. You already know Rogers can't do it.

Ya. But That's not based totally on the talent more on the pending contracts. All I'm saying is that the talent we have now is good enough to win the Super Bowl
Wow, so nobody wants Chase Thomas - even in the 7th round?

The hoax is gonna be ancient history. He might get a little bit not after his rookie season.

The scandal is grist for tabloids, not much more; not significant over the long run.

How well he plays in the NFL will determine his legacy, or if he has a legacy.
How dare the NFL network show superbowl highlights...
