Good post Karma.
I agree with most of your comments. Really just disagree with your priority list.
Disagreements:
Corner. I think we should be drafting a CB that will replace Brock next season and allow us to release Rogers after next season (to save money). I'd push the priority up on drafting for this position. I'd love it if Cox is our #5 corner.
Safety. I don't think we should extend Whitner. I think we'd be better off drafting a saftey early that can help us on special teams now... with the idea that we could let Whitner walk after next season and have that safety step in.
NT and DE. I think NT should be our #1 priority, although i may be splitting hairs a bit here, because i have DE as a close #2. Lets say, i'd like to see our first two picks be on the DL (or at least 2 of the first 3). :)
RB. I almost wouldn't even have RB on my priority list, however, if Lattimore is sitting there in the 5th rd... or maybe even in the 4th round, i'd be really tempted to pick him up.
My priority list:
1. NT
2. DE
3. S
4. CB
5. WR (a big one, exactly like you said)
6. OT
7. TE
8. K
9. OLB
10. RB

Fine Post!
Listening to Aikman and other "experts" on the tube - "The 49ers have the BEST Oline in the NFL." Who would have predicted this when we drafted Davis & Iupati? Not me. But man, am i so glad we did.
The wars are won in the trenches and IMO, we need to replenish our Dline first to maintain our winning ways.

I agree with azninersfan regarding NT as the first priority if we lose Sop and RJ. Also wonder about center as we don't have a clear picture of who would replace Goodwin if they let him go. But it's a bit early to project given no crystal ball to view who they resign and what FAs they may bring in this offseason--so your list is a good start. Never been a fan of cutting someone until there is a replacement as good or better in the wings...except for budget reasons.
My list of needs would be (depending on signing no FAs--ours or others):

Ovr a very good breakdown except for Delanie Walker. A Receiver/TE is useless if he cannot catch anything. No need to extend his contract.
One more: cutting Rogers is not only about the money but a lot about how he performs against quicker receivers. Sorry, he should leave before 2013' season.

Thanks for the feedback.
1. I could see us taking a guy with good upside that needs a year or two of seasoning at CB (Similar to Culliver). If we get rid of Rogers in another year or two that developmental pick could pay off. I just don't see it as a high priority. I'd rather take care of the DL and safety before worrying about CB.
2. I mentioned extending Whitner for two reasons. We could save money to sign our FAs and Whitner is a great safety for this defense. He is definitely weak in coverage but he makes up for it in leadership, run support, and tone-setting hits. We lose to New Orleans last year if not for his hit on Pierre Thomas IMHO. Consistentcy is huge for the secondary. However, we do need to increase improve our depth here. If we brought in a guy that made Whitner expendable, that would be great.
3. The reason I put NT further down the list is because of the way the league is set up. Half the teams we play are passing teams and that's when our NT goes to the sideline for the game. We need depth behind Justin Smith. I'd rather see Ian Williams starting at NT than Tukuafu backing up Justin Smith.

They have been working Kilgore out at center all season. I believe he is still Goodwin's backup. The confidence the coaches have in him will determine whether they bring Goodwin back. If they decide to cut Goodwin I would move center up on my priority list into the top three.

Good stuff as usual Karma.
Communist, the thing with Rogers is his cap number, and his guarantee of $1.7 million of his $5.5 million base salary, plus prorated bonuses make it tough to cut and save anything worth while. Unless we designate as june 1 cut, that cuts it over 2 seasons, but wont allow usage of cap room until june 1.

It would be REALLY nice to have a guy running his routes that could actually catch.

I just don't see Rogers getting cut. You're right about his struggles against guys like Amendola and Welker, but he is so versatile and fits so well in this defense. I think people underestimate his role in shutting down some of the best offenses in the league. How much did we hear from Randall Cobb on Saturday? I agree we should bring in another young CB to learn at the feet of Brown and Rogers, but we need to hang on to Carlos for the time being.

Pretty good break down on the state of the team. The good thing about this situation is that most of these problems are fixable and we can do it this offseason. I am very confident in Jim Harbaugh's ability to find and develop a QB and because of that, we can go the 7th round or UDFA route. Bringing in a cheap veteran is also another possibility.
At running back, I'd like to see more of a bruiser brought in, but once again, we are talking about 6th/7th round or UDFA. If we do bring in one, they should have some special teams value because they are probably not going to see the field as a running back in 2013, barring injury.
At WR, I could see two guys being drafted as well as UDFAs being signed. Any player brought in as a receiver has the opportunity to make an impact because we have so many question marks. Does Randy Moss return? How healthy will Kyle Williams and Mario Manningham be in 2013? I like Crabtree/Manningham/Williams/Jenkins as a group, but we should draft at least two guys to round out the roster and push Jenkins and Williams.
I am in full agreement with your assessment on Delanie Walker. I still want him on the team at the right price, but would prefer to have a Zach Ertz type as the #2 TE. A guy that can come in and make teams pay for the extra attention given to Vernon Davis. Last year I wanted us to draft Fleener at #30 and still stand by that. Hopefully we won't make the mistake of not bringing in a more dynamic receiving option at TE this year.
I am in full agreement with your assessment of the O-Line also. I hope Kilgore is ready to step in because if he can start at center without much of a drop off, not only does it free us from Goodwin's salary, but we would also have the cap space to front load Dashon Goldson's contract a bit with the departure of Alex Smith (that alone would probably cover his first year salary) depending on what we do with Soapoaga and RJF.
It seems that Donte Whitner is a bit underrated around here. He seems to be a leader on defense and along with Goldson, helps to set the tone. I look forward to seeing this pair for the next several years. I also forgot how young he is, seeing as how he was drafted the same year as Vernon Davis and Delanie Walker.
At CB, our needs can be solved with the drafting of Tyrann Mathieu
. He can cover the shifty, speed guys that we seem to struggle against, and we won't have to burn a high pick on him, allowing us to go DE/NT/TE/OT in rounds 1-3.
I think our draft class in 2013 has the potential to really push our current backups for serious playing time. At bare minimum, we should see good bit of any defensive line picks, TE, WR, and CB.
It's going to be interesting to see how Baalke works the board. 2012 doesn't look so great now, but considering what he did in 2010 and 2011, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt on the 2012 draft class. The one guy that has played significantly looks really good (LeMichael James). We'll see what AJ Jenkins, Cam Johnson, Fleming, Looney, etc bring to the table in the future.

A few spots where I think our draft need is rising.
CB - we have a really good group but in today's NFL and with us being good against the run we are going to get a ton of passes thrown at us. Brown and Cox have 1 year left. Rogers could be cut after next year to save big money. Need someone to go with Culliver and whoever else is left.
WR - Even if Moss is back Ginn will probably be gone. Kyle and Manningham are FAs after next year. I will give Jenkins a couple more years and am fine with him not contributing this year. Need someone to go with Crabtree and a good solid #2 as Kyle, Mario, Jenkins and Moss are ok, 3's and 2's but no White/Julio J. combo.
DE/NT - Need a DE that can give breathers and get pressure. Need to rotate more with Justin getting older. Someone who can take over for him in a few years. Not sure if Sopoaga will be back and if RJF is the answer at NT.
Kicker - Would hate to have a good team lose games and have a season wrecked by not getting a good kicker whether it's through draft or FA.
#2 TE - If Walker is gone it will be a big need since we use our #2 so much. If we re-sign him he better spend all offseason with Whitner and Carlos on the juggs machine.
OLB depth - depends on if Haralson will be back and what Fleming will bring but we need a guy who can give Aldon or Ahmad breathers at times.
Not all our needs but like I said the ones I think are rising and most vitale.
