What if the Rams get first pick

I think they'd trade the pick to the Browns (who currently sit 4th). The Browns have a ton of picks they can trade due to their trade back last year with Atlanta. And the Browns desperately need a franchise savior. Moreover, the Browns have an average defense that can win games in 2012 with adequate QB play.

If the Rams take Luck, they'd need to trade Bradford. Not a single team is taking that contract, and Bradford has no incentive to renegotiate his deal. Bradford will not be cut. He is too good to be cut, and too expensive to trade.

That means the Rams will trade back within the top 5, get the top LT, WR or CB and be stocked with #1 picks for a couple more years.
I see them either taking luck and trading Bradford for a receiver or trading the pick to get Blackmon

That will be the problem. Unless the Rams are willing to pay a large portion of his contract, they will not be able to move him. In that case, they will trade back and grab Blackmon or one of the other top 3 receivers, plus a couple other high picks for OL and secondary help.

Bradford played acceptably well for a rookie last year with Pat Shurmur tailoring the offense to him. Losing Shurmur was a huge blow to the Rams and to Bradford. McDaniel was not a good fit for the talent they had. With some WR help and better pass protection, Bradford can still be an exceptional QB. Let's not rate him on this past season.

Depending who the coach is Bradford may be the odd QB out! As solid as Bradford is at QB the fragile tag appears to be real.

Good luck trying to get rid of that cap number. That would be insane if the Rams cut or traded Bradford after two years, I'd definitely give up Kaepernick and a 2nd round pick for Bradford without even blinking.

Adam Shefter speculated today that Spagnuolo will be out at the end of the season. Expect the Rams to sign a HC that will maximize their investment in Bradford. They will do that by putting weapons around him to allow him to pay dividends on his contract.

So Justin Blackmon it is. But the Rams have seriously got to consider trading down, this draft is deep with O-line and receiver talent.

You're right. There is a lot of talent this year. However, with a $50MILLION investment in Bradford and no way to get rid of that contract, if I am Billy Devaney, I am going to grab the best possible WR to make sure I can get some value from that contract.

Of course if I could trade down to 5 or 6 and get another early 2nd round pick, I would do that but that may be hard to do.

With the smaller rookie contracts this upcoming season, it will be interesting to see how much trade action there will be. I expect there will be more than we have seen for a while.
Bradford is Alex Smith at best. Had such an overrated rookie year. Dump offs and throws to the flat. Was not impressive to a fan who knows anything.
They will trade him for the maxium amount of players!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I see Washington as a good trade partner.
