Trading up and having a greenbay type of draft.

Peterson, Amukamara, Dareus, Quinn and Green

then to trade up, its Ponder, Dalton, Kerrigan, Houston.

The thing I like about Dareus over Quinn is that Dareus comes from a school and coaching system that pushes their players hard, whereas Quinn comes from North Carolina where Butch Davis runs Lackadasical practices and also didn't play last year.

I think Quinn drops to the mid first because of whats Happened whereas Dareus represents great value as he dominated last year and there is talk of him going number 1 overall. If he slips to seven the niners would be seen as wise to pick him up. We have no idea what is going to happen with Franklin leaving us with a former 7th rounder in Francois at Nose tackle which is a scary thought.

Add to that the fact that Dareus can play end at 315 lbs and easily gain 20 lbs to be a scary Nose Tackle requiring double teams on almost every play.

Dareus is the least likely player to be on the board.

I don't know if I would be willing to give up pick 45 and a 1st next year to move up into the late 1st round. It's not like there won't be anybody left by 45. We will need that 1st next year to try and trade up if we still need a QB.

The cost of moving back into the first to draft an OLB would be aweful steep, especially since we would need that 45th overall to draft the best available corner (if Dareus is the first round pick).

A couple mocks recently have Dareus falling to 7. I see Dareus as the least likely of all the picks in the draft to fall to 7. Great DL get selected early, and Dareus is a better prospect that Gerald McCoy, who went to the Bucs with the third overall last year.

they could do that because they had aaron rodgers and woodson

ie

they had less holes to fill and therefore could sacrifice their picks to trade back into the 1st. We dont really have that luxury.

A pass rusher would be nice early in the draft, but is not as big a need as corner, especially with the huge cap number Clements will have over the next couple of years. The Niners have guys that are capable of starting at OLB, even if Manny leaves. That is not the case if/when the team releases Clements.

The market is going to be fierce for the few quality free agent corners. Too risky to chance that we could land one of them.

I prefer to trade down. If I had my way I would trade outta the 1st unless PP is there.

How about we draft the best players available and improve like normal teams?

It's not like Green Bay had one draft and suddenly won the superbowl.

Pretty sure Aaron Rodgers was important.

Dareus won't be around at #7 anyway.

If we knew who our starting QB was going to be then yes, I would love to have a GB type draft. Difference is though, they have Rodgers, we have zero at the position, I really think Harbaugh will pull the trigger on a QB either in the 1st (trade back up) or 2nd.

How do we not have the luxury. We have the most picks in the draft. Also, I did not mean trading the next year's first rounder. I'm talking about a second and a third for a late first. Or maybe the first pick in the second round which would be New England's pick. Team's don't always follow what each pick is worth, they take bargain's because they want to move around in the draft.

If we deem someone like say Aldon Smith, Ryan Kerrigan or someone else as the 12th best player on our board and he's there at 28-33 range then I say get back into the first round or start of the second round and grab him, it may even be a corner who they trade up for.
