Also Cam proved he doesn't need much time to get acclimated into a new league since in his first year at junior college he won a national championship and his first year in D-1 he won the Heisman and national championship.

A lot of D-1 players could go to junior college and help a team win a lot. The junior college championship weighs very little IMO.

Be that as it may, he still won the championship and then proceeded to win the FBS championship while going undefeated through the SEC, no easy task. And regardless of the significant talent he had at Auburn, he still has WON at each stage. I don't think he will be available at 7, but the Niners would be crazy not to look long and hard at him, even if it requires moving up the board to do it.

Tim Tebow won 2 FBS championships........

Cam Newton is bigger, faster and has a better throwing motion.

Tim Tebow 2.0

Cam Newton's ceiling is way higher than Tim Tebow. Cam Newton has all the tools to be a damn good pocket passer. But, he has to be in the right system, with the right coach. Obviously, I think Harbaugh is the best HC/QB coach for a young guy like Cam.

How does Tebow not have the tools? He looked pretty damn good in the games he played in. how is newton faster? we'll have to wait for the combine then. I want a foot race. Tebow is a lot faster than people think of i.e. raiders game.

Tim Tebow ran people over, Cam Newton ran by them. The quickness to change direction puts Cam Newton in a different class.

Former NFL scout's review on the media workout and more:

Interesting point, and one I forgot about.....Mark Sanchez only played one year as a starter.

The one big difference between Mark Sanchez and Cam is - Cam is a big time leader. Mark Sanchez has a little bit of Leinart in him. I think Cam will be a much better QB and a leader if he is in the right system.

Yea, like I said couple of pages back - more than the off-field issue, coaches will be concerned with him having only 1 year of experience. Issues with that is - there isn't enough tape, following a great year with a better year is something most players struggle with. Now, that has it's advantages too - because some may feel - he will only get better and is still raw.
I could be off but at his best I could see him being Daunte Culpepper. Although, faster and bigger hands so he won't fumble 15 times a year. He could have a really good career but once he starts taking abuse or one injury occurs he won't be running as much. He will have to learn to pass because even though he is big no QB in the NFL can run 20-30 times a game. His main problem will be mental... learning how to read a defense. He has all the tools. I question his smarts... plus one more negative could be his father. He could have that influence that Crabtree had with all his family. Will he be like Russell and be content with the money? Does he want to be great? That's 1 big issue people don't talk about and we really don't know because we don't get to talk with these players.

I really believe that he has the QB/football intelligence to eventually (though not right away) learn to read defenses (pre-snap). But his immediate impact will be when the pocket breaks down and he has to move around (which happens more often than not in the NFL). That threat alone will keep defenses on their heels a bit, knowing he has the ability to either break off a long run OR launch a bomb downfield to guys like Rice and Harvin.

So in his first few years, he'll likely struggle when has a clean pocket...but will be dangerous when things break down around him and he's allowed to just use his football instincts.

He also might be the biggest running/passing combo threat in the league. There is Vick but the knock on him is his size and his play after he gets his a few times. He also wears down as the season progresses.

Cam is Big Ben size and although Big Ben takes many hits, he does not come down easily. Cam will most likely be able to extend plays which will lead to additional first downs.

I am with you on him. I think too many people think "running qb" or "black qb" and immediately disregard him. He has done nothing but succeed everywhere he played. Until he gets bad reviews in interviews, I am not writing him off.

who the f**k cares how you throw a football. f**k my cousin can chuck it with a beautiful spiral 60 yards with ease, he can't play worht a lick. Dude Kyle boller from a knee at the 50 yard line perfect spiral through the goal posts, jamarcus russell easily throws a 70 yarder money. they all suck. f**k Trent Dilfer wtf does he know?

Well what does Trent Dilfer know all he's ever done was win a super bowl!!!! One thing you guys should know is that Cam Newton is a winner!!! He won the Heisman and He won a Junior college Championship and He won a National Championship!!! Plus his numbers against Oregon was better than Andrew Lucks numbers and Oregon had a month to plan against CAM NEWTON oppose to a week against Luck.

No his numbers weren't better than Luck's vs Oregon. He had one less int but that's it. His completion percentage, passing yards, and yards per rush were lower than Luck's. Luck also had a rushing TD vs the ducks and Newton did not. And Newton had whole month to game plan against Oregon!

And they had a whole month to plan against him. Not sure that your last sentence is valid at all.

My point was that the extra time that Oregan had to plan against Newton wasn't necessarily an advantage because Newton and the Auburn coaching staff also had extra time to game plan against them. I was using HIS argument against him....

This is why people shouldn't read one post in an exchange. Too quick to pounce.
