That's a lot of cheddar, but given our QB state, I wouldn't be opposed to it.

It is more complicated than that. In order for the 2012 1st round pick to work it would have to be AT LEAST the #17 overall pick OR BETTER. If Luck turned out to be good enough to get SF into the playoffs, that pick would be no higher than #21 (not yet enough value) which means yet another pick would be required.

As you can see, for anyone other than Mike Ditka, such a deal is really out of the question. I think the 49ers will be able to get a decent QB without having to go that route.

I know. That's why I think we'll draft Mallet.

The problem is that the Panthers won't trade that pick. They need a QB just as bad as we do and won't pass up on that type of talent.

Except daddy Luck has already stated that they will have influence where his son plays if he declares, ala Archie with Eli.

Carolina is a mess. I have said it before and will again, there is no way in hell Luck ever plays a snap for Carolina should he declare.

Any team in the top 10 with the stones to make it happen can have Luck on their roster next year if he declares.

Hopefully we land Harbaugh and he can whisper to Luck that we will pay him out of slot if he demands to be traded to the 9ers or says he will only play for the 9ers.
Trade all our draft picks to move up to #1, I am all in for Luck

b/c he and his defense have beaten an above avg team???
You are forgetting one thing Maddog: Carolina is the cheapest team in the NFL period. The first pick may have to be paid like Bradford was. It is uncertain if the collective bargaining agreement will eliminate that contract this year. It's probably a 75 million dollar contract which is why teams CAN'T trade out of first pick unless you have a player like Luck. I would offer a first second and crabtree. Receivers are the easiest to find in the draft and a Rice type receiver will never be seen by any of us again in our lifetime.

Yes, Carolina is cheap and probably would prefer to not pay that money. However, they have a chance to draft a franchise quarterback. A guy who can put butts in the seats, which means more money for them. Why would they pass on that? Another thing is, look at the other quarterbacks in their division. They all have franchise quarterbacks, they will never get out of the cellar of their division without one. I just don't see Carolina passing on Luck, and they would be idiotic to do so.
Mallet sucks immature poor feet.

No. Any talk of moving up to number one is out of the realm of possibility. It is too far down the board. And, why would the Panthers trade away the best QB to enter the league in a long, long time?

Would you trade him if you were the Panthers?

Hell NO. You simply DO NOT trade a prospect like Andrew Luck unless you have a young franchise QB already.

If we get Harbaugh we should trade whatever they want for Luck. Who cares if we mortgage off the next few drafts. Harbaugh knows how to use the TE position and Luck + VD would be a better combo than Rivers/Gates. It would be unstoppable. Harbaugh has developed the oline at Stanford too, i think ours would improve greatly with him. We can fix the defense in free agency. Empty the bank and sell the farm for Harbaugh + Luck
niners dont have to limit their offer to just picks...maybe picks and some combo of young promising players i.e josh morgan, navarro bowman, taylor mays

too bad the redskins arent drafting first, i just know they would take nate clements and harelson off our hands for a few 1st rounders.
