Locker isn't getting much help from his receivers. But I wouldn't be nervous drafting him.

Yea he is not that bad but he needs to work on his pocket passing and I would not want to take him at the top of the draft.

IDK he reminds me of a young Steve more than Smith. Not that I really saw anything of young Steve other than some highlights and stuff but still. He's a scrambling QB, but he plays in a pro style O for Sarkisian. I mean he played like s**t vs Nebraska's badass D but he's not playing with any talented recievers or backs so he would've had to beat a D that might have 2 or 3 first rounders(Amukamara and Crick and maybe another guy?) that is flat out solid by himself. But then he comes back vs USC and tosses up 300 yards and like 100 yards rushing or something and beats the 13th ranked team with his s**tty supporting cast. The problem with Smith was the transition to the pro style offense was really hard. If you gave Locker an offensive coach for a HC like a Shanahan type coach or a Gruden they would figure out how to get him scoring points IMO.
I still think he'll be really good. Not 1st overall draft pick but we're bad but by the end of season we probably won't be that bad. So it's better than having to trade up for Luck(who is really good but he's not perfect) to #1 overall. I mean if we wind up picking #10 or whatever we have a shot at Locker. I would love to have him on this team if Smith continues to suck and we rebuild.
I still wouldn't mind taking a QB in the 2nd-4th round like a Foles or Stanzi or someone and develop them while we invest our 1st and other picks on the D. We really could use help at CB so to get someone like Patrick Peterson or Amukamara or a pass rusher might be really good for us. If we sign a vet QB like Chad Pennington, take Nick Foles or Ricky Stanzi(who I'm a big fan of) mid rounds, and get a shutdown CB+returner like Peterson, then we have a lockdown D and a veteran QB+a good RB. That could get us to the playoffs. And the young QB gets to come in during his 2nd season or later this year and not have to worry about winning the game all by themself, that really helps their development. Just look at Chad Henne or Mark Sanchez or Flacco, guys that entered the league and relied on the foundation of their team while they learned.
Pretty well said, Willis. I don't think I need to add anything here. I still think very highly of Locker. Look at Tim Tebow, great athlete also, but if you compare the two, it's not even a question of who is more NFL ready. Locker's transition should be much faster than Tebow -- a first round pick because of his great ceiling, not based on what he would immediately be expected to do.
Locker is already a better scrambling quarterback, and a better passer in a pro-system without anywhere near the cast Tebow had during his career, which features several current NFL receivers (Harvin, Andre Caldwell, Louis Murphy, Riley Cooper).
On paper, Locker should be a lock to go in the first round. He had one -- just one -- bad game so far this year, and bounced right back to beat #18 USC. He's fine, and I think he'll be a good QB in this league. I will mention though, like I said before, each of the QB's in this class have something a little scary about them.
The last thing I'll say is this: LaMichael James is going to be a serious asset for some team in the future. Knock him for his size all you want, be the kid's got some serious wheels and in the league these days, speed kills. You saw what the Chiefs did with McCluster.. I need not remind anyone of that.
