How does Ted Ginn impact the draft board?

They weren't going to draft Spiller anyway.

Did you guys really think they'd draft a part time player in the first round? This trade changes the mid round picks, so they'd pass on Gilyard, Shipley, or Jacoby Ford.

I still could see McCluster being draft though. Same change of pace back, slot WR, return skills, and he comes at cheaper cost.

Honestly I don't think it changes that much at the top of the draft. I would be very upset if the 49ers would pass on better overall talent early on because another lesser skilled player was a better return man.

I still expect us to look at return guys. Ginn's spot on the team is hardly a sure thing.

You're kidding, right? KR/PR is one of the biggest needs on this team, and that's what Ginn does well as proven NFL veteran. Unless he runs over one of Baalke's kids in the parking lot, Ginn is on the roster.

Increases the Joe Haden possibility at No. 13

Yeah, I think you're right about this. Assuming Spiller is not our choice at #13 if he falls that far, I am inclined to think we would take an OT over Haden at #13, pending availability (will Williams fall that far?).

I agree McCluster would add that 3rd down back we have lacked and also is a good return specialist as well I see him in the 3rd round a possibility.

To me, a guy like Brandon Graham suddenly seems a lot more appealing in the 1st round.

so tell me how ginn makes us move needing a corner to second? hes a kr/wr. and pass rush is 3rd on needs imo

I always make fun of this guy but honestly I think it's a good pickup. He can return kicks and punts and that's what we need. He also has good speed and if he can figure out how not to be a b***h and catch some passes, he could be a steal for us.

I know players bust, but this guy has made some plays in the NFL at the WR position. He just hasn't done it consistently due to his horrible drops.
No more C.J. Spiller...

He's got a fresh start now, I'm just glad all we had to give up was a 5TH!

Why do you make fun of him? He's one of the best return guys in the league. He has blazing speed. He can certainly be used on some go routes. He can get deep behind the coverage.

Does this increase the chances of us using our 2 1st round picks to move up and grab one of the top OT's in the draft?

I don't expect it to impact the first 4 rounds at all. Maybe now more likely to go for a true position player in Rounds 6-7, instead of some return specialist.

He's a fumbler anyway and it will show in the NFL carries the ball to loose.
Lets hope we use him on PRs as well as KRs...we still don't have a true PR if he's only used to return kicks...and PR was more of a need than KR.

I'm sure he'll be our PR and KR.
I think we're likely to draft a CB with PR skills now. Kyle Wilson could be the guy at #17, or a trade down from the second 1st rounder to grab someone like Devin McCourty.
