Premise: You do not draft a quarterback based upon what he can do for the team next year.
I have never seen Stafford play. I have only seen Sanchez play once--in the Rose Bowl.
I understand that I have little basis for my opinion, but I feel that over the long run Sanchez will be a better quarterback than Stafford.
Any input will be appreciated.

Stafford is the better prospect. He has the bigger arm and has played in a pro style offense for 3 years. He can make every throw there is.
I was listening to Trent Dilfer last week on the radio and he said that he had never seen a college QB that looked so good on film to him.
This is not to say that Sanchez isnt going to be very good. It is more about the fact that Stafford could be special.

When has Trent Dilfer criticized anyone though? To him, everyone is "Outstanding in their approach to the game."

I think he still knows a bit more about quarterbacking that you and I do. Don't you? Also, he would not say that Stafford was the best college QB he has seen on film. I just dont think he would go that far if he wasnt truly impressed.

Does anyone else feel that the comparison between these two QBs is very similar to how Ryan and Flacco were compared last year?

Stafford might be good but would not take him on the first day. Sanchez is a huge guess. Prob would not bother with him till the second day either.

No I dont think they will last past the 2nd round. I am just saying I would not take them with a high draft pick. Alex Smith will burn for years to come.

Staffords big plus is that he is quite pro ready. How do you wan't your QB to be to give him a chance ? The Smith thing is still burning here, too, but you need to move on and for every Ryan Leaf there is a Matt Ryan out there.
Btw : I don't wanna pick each of them unless anybody falls to our 2nd round pick ;)

good info, however the big stat on Sanchez to a-lot of scouts is his 22 total starts in games, basically a [one year starter]...but on potential alone I'd pick him, but he's likely gone by # 10 in the first round....

Agreed. After Alex Smith taken at #1, everyone seems to be afraid of making that same mistake at #10.
If scouts score Sanchez's tape in a similar manner, Sanchez will be the first QB taken off the board by Detroit or KC.
