Chad Reuter's five-round mock

BUFFALO PICK 9 Lamar Jackson - QB, Louisville

PROJECTED TRADE WITH 49ERS. AJ McCarron was signed to what amounts to a one-year contract, and did not garner the attention most would associate with a franchise quarterback. Therefore, I think Sean McDermott will want a playmaker for down the road a year or two -- and that's Jackson.

49ERS PICK 12 Minkah Fitzpatrick - DB, Alabama

PROJECTED TRADE WITH BILLS. The Niners trade down three spots, pick up an extra selection and still get the guy they wanted in Fitzpatrick.

59. 49ers: D.J. Chark, WR, LSU

65. 49ers: Sam Hubbard, EDGE, Ohio State (pick acquired in projected trade with Bills)

70. 49ers: Kalen Ballage, RB, Arizona State

74. 49ers: Rasheem Green, DE, USC

128. 49ers: M.J. Stewart, CB, North Carolina

143. 49ers: Nick DeLuca, LB, North Dakota State

I really like it. I like the trade down.

We add two versatile players to our secondary in Minkah and MJ Stewart. Both can play any position and play it well.

Hubbard and Greene are two of my favorites in the draft. Greene is so raw and if he stayed for his senior year he probably goes in the 1at next year. Hubbard is Justin Smith lite. All hustle all the time.

Ballard and Chark add some depth to the offense and Deluca is a nice prospect.

nice! thanks for posting.
I personally see nothing to like in this draft.
Not a huge fan of this mock. My biggest issue is that i highly doubt we will take a RB anywhere before the 5th round. We just paid "Jet" top 5 rb money. Breida had a solid rookie season, and Joe Williams is in play as well.

Since its such a deep class, i see a good RB falling past the 4th round being a more likely target, Someone to come in and compete with Breida and Williams for that third back spot.

I like the Deluca pick.

Disagree. We need a back. Brieda, mchinnon, and Williams do the same things. We need a short yardage back. We have 0. And juice will not play that role according to kyle
Here's to hoping Juice sees the field more this year than he did last year. We paid good money for him, so when he's not playing FB, hopefully he gets more work as TE opposite Kittle. I wouldn't mind them trying Juice out as the short yardage RB either. I know Shanahan said he doesn't, "WANT" him to do that, but if he's the best guy suited or it, then might as well use him accordingly.

same here. Totally neglects the O-line and drafts a safety when we have 3 starters already.

i would give any mock a thumbs down if it doesnt have us drafting a interior lineman within the first 3 rounds.

Who decided that Fitzpatrick is the "guy they wanted"?
I can live with the Ballage pick but not at #70.
Overall not good.

We have 3 linemen, all former 1st round picks battling for 2 positions. Do you really think a 2nd or 3rd round rookie will beat do them out and start?

And as for 3 safeties, well 2 of them are oft-injured and in the last year of their deals. Minkah isn't just a safety BTW. You should try reading up on him. He is pretty good.

Chark might end up being the best WR from the class.
