Josina Anderson reports the market for free agent Alec Pierce "may be too much" for the Patriots, but that the 49ers "might pay it."

Field-stretcher Pierce would be a strong fit in the Patriots' offense, but they might believe he's not enough of an upgrade on their current Kayshon Boutte/Mack Hollins tandem to justify more than $30 million per season. The 49ers, meanwhile, could be tired of waiting for former first-rounder Ricky Pearsall to stay healthy. Pierce is predictably generating wide interest after the Colts surprisingly let him reach the open market, but he is still most likely to end up with a cap-flushed, receiver-desperate team like the Titans.

That would be a difference maker. Biggest problem with this would be, purdy throws most of his interceptions when he throws deep balls. He's more of a timing and intermediate route passer.

That would be beyond stupid after just blowing $30M a year on Aiyuk. No WR aside from maybe the top 3 are worth that kind of money; especially in our run first offense. At least for me; I'd never break that kind of bank on a WR. Can find good ones in every draft
Thats why I seriously doubt they'd do it.

We gotta see the terms before getting worked out. IMO

Pearce is a damn good WR and didn't he lead the league in YAC last season? I'm good with whatever the 9ers do, at least Pearce isn't a troll like Aiyuk.
I'm not in favor of giving big money to any WR unless they're truly elite and even then I'd be hesitant,I would've never given the money to Aiyuk based on talent alone can we honestly say that Pearce is better than or even equal to Aiyuk?

If I'm spending that kind of money on a FA theres multiple positions I'd spend it on first.
They have different skillsets

I mean one thing is Pierce is 6-3 215 pounds and is probably the best deep threat right now in the league. Also he is one of the better WR in contested catches.

Its really hard to evaluate him though i mean he has had absolute garbage at QB- his best QB by a mile is Daniel Jones and grandpa Rivers. I think the NFL (and 49ers) see thata huge upgrade in QB like Purdy can bump up his overall production. Last year he did show a lot of growth running multiple different routes but he was more of just a speed guy before.

I do think its an overpay but i dont think its a bad contract you are defenetely getting more speed which i think is important to the team
He may turn out to be a stud and we'll worth the contract in this system with Purdy but thats an awful lot of money for a maybe,I'd just prefer to invest that money in other positions of need.

i dont disagree my guess is 49ers want to patch some offensive holes in FA and build the defense through draft but we will see what happens
I just want a free agent safety and guard even if they're a bit older those are the positions we should be Spending on in free agency because they're not a lot to get
Alec Pierce isn't close to a 25 to 30 million dollar WR. I don't care what the contract numbers look like.

I was watching all his targets on YouTube and he barely gets any separation unless it's an open zone, wasn't too impressed.
Welp there goes that

Thank god we dodget the bullet to pay another mediocre WR that money
Colts have like $100K in cap space. Look for some more cuts like Pittman jr

They actually where over the cap even before Pierce

Yeah sorry I meant in the red. Either way the cap is a myth. It's the actual real dollars you want to allocate to the team each yr.
