Since there are a lot of rumors out there about the 49ers trading for this guy, let's discuss why or why shouldn't the 49ers trade for him. Clearly, the guy is a baller, and I can see why the 49ers would want him. He's Emmanuel Sanders all over again, one of Kyle's favorite players of all time. The 49ers have a gaping hole at wide receiver. They need to add a big time player there. It's easy to understand why they'd consider the trade. But then there's all this stuff. The guy is a moron. He's been in the NFL for 3 years and been in trouble every year. Legal issues On July 20, 2023, Addison was pulled over and cited for speed and reckless driving before reporting to his first training camp. Driving a Lamborghini Urus on Interstate 94 in Saint Paul, he was allegedly going 140 miles per hour (230 km/h) in a 55 miles per hour (89 km/h) zone at 3 AM. The same day, the Vikings released a statement, stating they were aware of the incident and were looking into it.[23][24] Addison told a police officer at the scene that he was driving at that speed due to a medical emergency involving his pet dog.[25][26] The next month, Addison pled guilty to a petty misdemeanor, which resulted in him paying a $686 fine and having his driver's license revoked for six months.[27][28] Shortly before midnight on July 12, 2024, Addison was arrested near the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.[29][28][30] At the time of his arrest, California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers found Addison asleep at the wheel, with his car blocking traffic lanes.[30][29] He was arrested following a 30-minute investigation.[30][29] He was then released from custody two hours later on July 13, with no charges yet to be filed.[29][30][28] Despite this, Addison was still facing DUI charges.[31] On July 31, 2024, Addison was charged with two misdemeanors, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with blood-alcohol content over California's legal limit of .08 percent.[32] His arraignment and plea hearing, at the Los Angeles Superior Court, was set for July 15, 2025.[32][33] On July 17, 2025, Addison agreed to a plea on a lesser charge, known as a wet reckless, in order to settle the case.[34] On January 12, 2026, Addison was arrested in Hillsborough County, Florida, on a misdemeanor trespassing charge. I was wrong. He ain't Emmanuel Sanders. The better overall comp as a player, athlete and person is Antonio Brown.

Cut candidate could be in the mix. Colts could cut Michael Pittman. Trade candidates are plenty. Hoping the 49ers don't get gun shy and add someone either in trade, free agency, or draft. Romeo Dobbs would be a good free agency signing. Brian Thomas Jr could be another buy low option.

Right… and Addison isn't at his peak yet. That's literally the comparison.

Addison has more receptions, yards, and touchdowns through his first three seasons all while playing second to Justin Jefferson with a myriad of different quarterbacks. He all the necessary talent and skill to be one of the best WRs in the NFL. I just don't know if he'll continue to put in the work to reach his ceiling or keep his nose clean, which is the main problem that he's f**king moron--just like Antonio Brown.

I wouldn't make the trade because there's a well established pattern of off-field issues, but I understand why other people want it to happen.

I think before we start comparing him to a guy who was a complete lock for the HOF before he went insane, a better comp would be someone like TY Hilton.

After going through the BA situation, you'd have to be pretty desperate to even consider this dude.

I admit the current state of SF pass receivers is pretty thin but without even looking at trade/free agency/draft rumours, there has to be better overall options than Addison.

That guy can't get through one year without something stupid happening.
