Mac Jones

With Moore going back to Oregon and the amount of money that Jones will count towards the cap, what do you think the 49ers could get for Mac Jones?
I know the Jets won't be interested. They will do everything they can to go 0-17 next year.

Peanuts. The only way we trade him, in my opinion, is if we get a great offer, possibly from an AFC team, and we feel we owe him the opportunity. And in answer to your question, a second.

I feel that if we do Trade him, it will be a team that has one of our Ex Coaches.
im not so sure they trade him for a lone 2nd rounder. his 2026 cap number is < $4M. that's a steal for player who's performed at his level.

Alex Smith commanded two 2nds. i believe a team would need to match that or SF is perfectly fine having Mac around to potentially save the season if need be.
I can see the Dolphins being a good fit. Vikings would love to have him. Maybe the Jets. 2 2nds has to be the floor.
I love Mac but he's a luxury that we cannot afford to keep if we are to keep pace with the better teams in the league. Sadly I don't trust the Niners ability to draft so we need to trade Mac for an experienced player.

I agree with the bold. I think we need to make a talent leap if we're going to catch up to Seattle, especially with their youth and our aging stars.
Season after season, I watch the NFL Draft hoping the 49ers would select a player I feel would make an impact.
As it plays out (more than it doesn't), the 49ers don't select the player I had in mind, or even worse, another team
jumps the 49ers in a trade-up, and selects that player.

Seeing as most teams use the Draft Value Chart, or a facsimile thereof, why not include Mac as added value to
lessen the cost of a trade-up, to preserve as much draft capital as possible, and then move up in the draft.

With Chicago losing to the Rams, the 49ers are locked into pick #27. I'm not saying that they can't get a decent
player at #27, but moving up to the middle of Round 1 would be a better option, if trading Mac is in their plans.

We're only in the playoffs because of Mac. Trade him and the safety blanket is gone for a little QB that takes a lot of unnessary punishment.

I think this offseason can have as many big time QB moves as it did head coaching moves.

If you can get a 2nd you have to do it. If it's only a third I may be inclined to hold off until training camp and see what injuries may come about.

Not a bad idea but then you are placing all your trust on the ability of Lynch and Kyle to nail the pick. If they botch the pick then poof, you've essentially given away Mac for free instead of trading him for an experienced player.

I get where you're coming from, and it's a legit concern. Sometimes you just have to have faith.
The NY Jets have two 1st Round Picks: #2 & #16. Who do they have at QB at the moment,
better than Mac ... also, who could they draft that would be immediately better than Mac Jones !?

It wouldn't hurt for Lynch / Shanahan to contact Darren Mougey (Jets GM) to see if they have an
interest in swapping picks. I doubt they'd give up their #2, but Mac Jones and the 49ers #27 for
their #16, might be doable.

Not a prediction but the Jets are drafting a QB IMO....they don't need to invest so much in landing a Mac when they can get a transitional guy without any draft investment.
