Productive, athletic tight end coming off a nightmarish season that would inject some speed and explosiveness at TE. Coming out in the draft he was pretty lacking as a blocker but has developed into a very good one in the NFL.

Three TE sets loading?
Was super surprised to see Baltimore extend Andrews instead of going forward featuring Likely.
I think Tonges has shown more than enough in the role that Likely would theoretically occupy to justify spending what'd it take to get Likely to sign in FA

He's going to want a starting gig and a 1 year incentive laden deal to bet on himself. I could see the Seahawks and Commanders be serious teams that would try to sign Likely in FA.

Why are we talking TEs in FA? We just signed one, and Tonges is coming up and can probably be resigned for cheap. Even if we let him go I doubt we spend good money on a 3rd TE

Likely would not be a third TE on any roster and Farrell's contract was written to be easy to get out of.

You actually serious? I just don't see them cutting Farrell and letting go of Tonges for a high priced TE

Plus Stanford has a pretty good mid round TE prospect in the draft this year.
I fully expect us to go into next year with the TEs already on the roster, but we'll draft a Stanford kid before spending money on Likely, tho I do like him.
If were spending money on a redundant position, give me Breece Hall instead

i really liked him at the senior bowl and the draft. I'd love to have him. We need receivers the D needs to worry about. We need speed too. Maybe if Jennings isn't brought back. We have top money sunk into just a few people on Offense. Aiyuk screwed us. I love Pearsall but he has been hurt and it really killed us with no weapons down the field this last game.
The one issue is having money for top FA's that can help. If he has to do more incentives, it is more likely. pun intended..Cutting Aiyuk will free up money,
The other issue is Shanny will only play a few players. We can't even get Tonges in for some snaps having Kittle.
We have a few positions where we will need future replacements. We can't spend money on TE,RB, and T in FA since we currently pay a lot to the starters .
We then avoid them higher in the draft also.
We need to being in talented guys to lighten the load and help these guys last. Then have new guys to take over.
OL has to come first hopefully in a Center,
We need veteran startng quality WR help like a Pierce. Likely could play in the slot. Shanny won't play rookies. Pick them on D or OL.
For TE, I figured maybe Charlie Kolar would want to play with Purdy again and replace Farrell.
I am also a big yes on getting Hall too to split carries with McCaffrey.
We need more explosive weapons to keep someone like Seattle from stacking the box. .

I would be thrilled. They need to cut their losses on Farrell anyway. They whiffed signing him.

Stop it, Farrell sucks and is only a blocking TE. Tonges is good but you still want another TE especially now that George is probably missing a lot of next season. Likely won't be a 3rd TE next year and would be worth it for the right price

Not just next season, but it may be careerish.
Next time he takes the field he will be 34 year old and likely won't have the same burst for a bit.
