Trade targets

now with Huff out, I say we double up at pass rusher like we did in 2023
think we could get Key for a 6th, and Thibodeaux for a 4th
I wouldn't trade for any day 1 or day 2 picks... unless Quinnen Williams is available... and even then the most I'd offer would be a pair of 2nds
Jermaine Johnson. Pro Bowler in 2023 under Saleh, injured last year, doing very little in the current Jets defense. Still only 26 years old, great size for the edge in this scheme and with some explosiveness(4.58 40 at 260 pounds).

Depends on what the asking price is.

He would be what the 49ers were hoping to get with Chase Young.

What would you give up for him? He would fit into their long term plans and you can never have enough ERs

Conditional 3rd that can potentially turn into a 2nd and a future 5th/6th? That might be lowballing though since several teams are looking for DL's on the trade market.

Would love to get him in Saleh's system again & he would figure into future plans also
Saw an article on The Score about "realistic" trades they would want to see happen.

DE Jermaine Johnson for 2026 3rd
LB Quincy Williams for 2027 3rd

Both of these guys shined best when Saleh was coaching the Jets and would be a home run trade for us IMO. I'd do this in a heartbeat, I'd even throw in another pick for it to happen. 🙏

Would the Jets want to help an ex coach out though? I feel like theres some bad blood between Saleh and the Jets on how it ended there.

I'm thinking Arden Key & Will Mcdonald IV is who we trade for this week
I'm fine with Arden Key as a secondary target, but he really doesn't move the needle. Even when Huff comes back, they need another DE that can put consistent pressure on the QB.

They could also use a low cost reclamation DT that can actually create some pressure.
Rams just traded with the Titans to get McCreary. Gave up a second round pick to Titans to get player in return.

It was a pick swap not a second round pick. lol

They literally traded him for a 5th round pick and got a 6th round pick back. What the actual f**k. McCreary is not a bad CB at all. And of course it's the Rams who fleece someone
Another reason the Niners benefit from trading for a DE now. Shanalynch MUST draft online help next year. If they can shore up the dline, it frees them up to attack the oline upgrades.
