Player safety is a big deal on kickoffs - no more wedges, fair catching outside of the endzone. But Thursday Night football? Yes, more of that.
The new kickoff rule essentially makes it so all kickers can get touchbacks. Lol idk, I haven't thought much about it but it seems like kick returners won't be very coveted anymore
Jake Moody already scaring other teams.

they are putting the kickoff in such a compromised position.. do ppl want to watch 11 v 11, with a consistent result of no action / fair catch as the play
at what point do they simply do away with the kickoff, and after a score, spot it at the 25 and let's play

I don't see how this changes much. Maybe fair catching vs catching and taking knee saves a few seconds of blocking? But otherwise, I'd expect returners will still make the decision to go for the big return if it's not deep into the end zone.

it's in their blood, those kick returners are one of the most selfish player on the team and 85% of the time, they will NOT fair catch unless TOLD..

The issue will be at games end if it's close. If your team takes the lead and just want to burn clock so the receiving team doesn't have enough time to score, now you're forced to squib kick it. Before you could just kick short to prevent a touchback and let your STs end the game. Instead the receiving team will just default take the touchback and allow one or more plays from the 25 yard line.

I don't like this at all.
bust, already missed 48 yarder in practice!

I was gonna say the same thing, only sarcastically, which I'm sure you are too.

I suppose that could be one difference. One strategy taken away. Although often I tend to prefer no danger of a return myself usually.

We started seeing kick-offs to teams with returners nobody feared that fell short of the goal line which would force a return. The new rule makes a fair catch anywhere the same as one in the endzone.

Yah now itll be up to the returner to decide if they have the blocking to try a return.
